STBX has it disappeared with the kidsI just settled my divorce with 50/50 custody and very minor financial concessions (much less than lawyers at court would cost). My ex called the police twice, made a bunch of accusations to CPS, and had told every person that would listen that I'm dangerous and abusing the kids. What saved me? Documentation. I fortunately saw this coming when shortly before we separated she started saying things like "she was scared" when we had minor fights and started involving other men "for protection". I bo… | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/10/25 12:01 PM
When She Says She Wants Out, Step Aside and Show Her the DoorSame exact thing. It was like a weight was lifted immediately. Any time she floated reconciliation after that I was like nope I’m good thanks! | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/09/25 11:34 AM
Did your young kids adjust well to a 7/7 schedule?Yes, they seem to be handling it well, but like I said they get a good ~20 hours with the other parent each week and I think that is the key. Because of my ex's work schedule I end up putting them to bed a few nights every week so I get that whole routine and bonding time. It might not be possible with school age children, or if you're not comfortable in each other's spaces to do something like that but it's working for us for now. Yes it's awful this is happening so early in their lives but I'm… | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/08/25 02:04 PM
Did your young kids adjust well to a 7/7 schedule? So I do 7/7 with a 3 and 5 yo. BUT to reduce daycare costs I also watch the kids to cover for my ex's work and vice versa so even though overnights are 7/7 I still see my kids a couple times on my weeks off. It's really nice because I miss them and we go do fun stuff and then they go back to mom. If I didn't have this I wouldn't like 7/7 too much, it's too long. I have like a 3 day stretch where I don't see them and that's almost too much. Otherwise the simplicity of 7/7 is nice and limits the o… | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/08/25 01:48 PM

The mask slipsIn a similar situation. I feel like my ex just doesn't want to "lose" in the sense of not getting the house. Despite it being best for the kids, the perception of you staying and her going looks like she is getting a worse deal. It increases the chances you'll end up with more custody of the kids. You'll live in their district and she won't. The kids themselves will likely prefer to be in the home they've always known. I'm not saying she's right but I sort of understand the resistance. It's imma… | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/08/25 01:46 PM
HelpLook up gray-rocking for dealing with this. You being emotionally exhausted and pushed to your brink is the point. She wants you to react and mess up and lose your kid. Log everything. Don't play the games. All communication about anything but direct care of the child goes through the lawyer. "I only want to discuss matter concerning our daughter, all other matters need to be addressed through counsel". Log everything. Record any interactions with her (custody exchanges). I put up cameras in my … | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/07/25 02:05 AM
She blew up after 10 years of peace! It sounds like she’s threatened about losing the money. Does she rely on this income? That would be my guess. I don’t have any advice on how to handle more than what you’re already doing. Sorry you’re going through that. | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/06/25 10:31 PM
Has anyone here successfully forced the use of OFW or some other app that limits/oversees the ex’s communication? We use OFW and I invited my lawyer to monitor. Lawyer never actually looks at it but just the threat of it keeps my ex at least polite and coded-condescending instead of outright condescending, though frequency is still an issue. The only thing i don’t like is that she can see when you’ve read messages. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/06/25 10:03 PM
Children meeting the Ex’s BfAfter 7 years? I don’t really think you need to do anything here. Just follow up if the kids have concerns but otherwise mind your own business. | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/06/25 10:11 PM
X post Divorce: Dealing with lifestyle changesYes losing the house hurts me almost more than losing the wife. I’m in the position to keep paying the mortgage too but she won’t work with me on a way to buy out her equity so I’ll likely have to sell. I’ve offered to give her pretty much everything else she wants if she works with me on the house and it’s still a no. Just vindictive bs. I’m going to be joining you in going back to renting at least for a year. | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/06/25 03:52 PM
