Very true. For the love of God dont waste money on a Tag. Save up for an 80s Datejust or stick to a seiko diver if you don’t wanna drop a few grand.

I’d go with something like a vintage seiko diver with a NATO strap. An automatic watch will always present nicer than a modern quart plastic piece of crap.

Absolutely, I’ve trained all my employees to do many of these things but I can certainly encourage them to think more about it for every customer that comes in. For example anyone that comes in wearing a moving company shirt or looks like a junky gets offered half of what we would normally offer because honestly we don’t care to buy it. This is great. I manage a rare coin and jewelry store so I make my living buying goods from the public to resale. I literally negotiate all day long. I love the subtle questions to gain information and I can totally incorporate this. We always say we make our money when we buy, not when we sell. It’s a hard game offering enough to get them to sell it so you can make a reasonable profit, but not cheap enough to make them go somewhere else. Good post.

Totally agree. I work in the jewelry industry and I wear a big gold ring on each hand, a gold Rolex and 2 unique gold chains all the time but it works for me. I get complemented a lot my women on my jewelry and it’s a great conversation starter.

When I had long hair girls used to love to braid it. Girls at bars would ask and it can be a great way to initiate contact. Playfully tell her only if she does a good job. Now I wouldn’t normally rock the braid very long after that
