2	Stay in room mate marriage or give her a pile of money I was in your position last year. Admittedly I am 8 years younger, but I agree with Louis CK's take on it "I'm not saying don't get married, but definitely get divorced". I haven't been this happy in years and I didn't know how big the emotional toll was. I bought her a company so she'd have a job while putting her through school, she's now a teacher and when we separated, I gave her the company outright. 3	How did you do it? I'm betting that someone who gives you an ultimatum to propose isn't going to be sad. They're most likely going to be mad and blame you. Luckily this will only validate your unhappy feelings and you're going to feel great about doing it once she leaves the room.
