You misspelled squat. Other than that, I agree completely. Deadlift is great except high volume can predispose you to injuries. It's all concentric, no eccentric phase. You can get more volume in because you aren't doing the eccentrics, but you're also not getting that eccentric stretch on the muscle and soft tissue.
