Perhaps we should go back to using the gold star system. For very young kids, homework is not "expected" and doing it completely is a milestone. Later, harder challenges, like getting a 100%, were what earned the stars. Having to go "above and beyond" for a lousy gold star? Fuck, why bother? Edit: Gold stars were absolutely the opposite of "every kid gets a medal" - it was highly competitive. Hallelujah. I'm sick and tired of the ranting, raving, stereotyping, hatred, and bigotry between the genders. It's not just TwoX and MensRights, but prevalent throughout Reddit and our culture in general. I subscribe to MensRights (I have many good men in my life I love and want the world to treat fairly) and long ago unsubbed and filtered out TwoX (it made me rage against women more than it made me feel empathy for my "sisters").
