1	Lie about rape . . . GET 10 YEARS Ya, no, I agree with you 100%. I wasn’t trying to say false accusers shouldn’t face egregious consequences for their actions. And of course, nobody should be convicted of a crime without proper evidence, especially a crime carrying the kind of consequences that a rape conviction does. I was just trying to make the point that we live in an imperfect world. GET 10 YEARS I’ve said in another, incredibly long winded, comment, that the issue with punishing false accusers, and likely the reason we don’t see it more often, is what to do when a real rape victim can’t prove the crime commit against them, which does happen. It’s not just about this particular instance, it’s about the fact that people who make false accusations generally face no repercussions for doing so. False rape allegations do more to normalize rape and guarantee real victims aren’t taken seriously and don’t get real justice than anything else. But you’re essentially trying to treat the symptoms as opposed to the disease itself. And handicapping a system with the potential to do immense good in the process. The important thing is the safety of the child, not protecting the fucking criminal who made the choice to commit a heinous crime. Making the alerts city wide is ludicrous, what happens when said kidnapper drives 5-20 minutes and is out of the city where nobody is aware of what happened or looking for them?
