The Daily Caller wouldn't be my first choice for objective analysis of a fact-checking website. Snopes had a field day after Election Day debunking all the myths spread on social media due to Trump hysteria. It's not a "radical left" website.

That's not the early 2000's internet I remember. It was understood that people are going to be assholes to each other from behind keyboards. The only rule was "suck it up or don't participate." The difference is that back then, you were just a screen name with maybe an avatar. Your real name, photos of yourself, family and employment information weren't attached to your profile, making harassment more difficult and much less of a concern. I hate web 2.0

I think the words are benign in and of themselves, but they can be used in an abusive manner depending on the context. That being said, I still don't think anyone should be punished for saying them. Facebook already has a block feature. It's the freaking internet and you're going to see statements that piss you off. Call me old school.

They're free to post whatever they want on gab.ai. There is of course a lot of inflammatory stuff posted there, and offensive content isn't removed. However, it's easy enough to mute users I don't like, as well as mute all posts that contain words I choose to filter (I have the n word with hard r on my mute list and that alone seems to have cleaned up my feed quite a bit). That's why I posted this here. I definitely think race was a factor in why he was so needlessly gunned down, but the fact that he was a man is a big part of it too. It's black men specifically who are perceived as dangerous by the police. There are dangerous women out there too, but they are more often given the benefit of the doubt in situations like this.

I'm your typical WASP and even I feel out of place in certain rural areas. They see me as a "city person", so I tend to stay in the city (Houston). I wouldn't recommend moving to just any old part of Texas unless you get a really good job somewhere. You can definitely thrive in Austin, Houston, or Dallas though.
