Except...there were rules. If a good grappler gets ahold of a guy stronger than him, he could break the grapple. Key word: Could. Christ, you sound like the kind of guy that watches UFC 1 and whines that it wasn't realistic enough because it wasn't on /DAT STREETZ/. We know what no holds barred, no rules, no rounds, no time limits fighting looks like. When Royce Gracie won UFC 1 against bigger, stronger opponents that lacked his skillset, you'd think that this debate would have gone away. Appare…

Spoken like someone that's never been in a fight with somebody that knows what they're doing. Watch UFC 1 - no holds barred, no rules, no rounds, no time limits. And yet, the smallest guy in the tournament came out on top despite the fact that he was fighting bigger, stronger opponents. Skill matters. I've squished little guys, I've been squished by bigger guys, but I've also been fucking demolished by smaller guys with ten times the grappling experience that I had. If a good Judo player or a go…

To be fair, the average reaction time in a self defense situation is 1.5 seconds. Assuming you're quick on the draw, that's 1.5 seconds for an assailant to attack you, and most people can close a gap of about 20 feet in that time frame. So sure, a gun can be a great self defense tool if your situational awareness is on point, but knowing Jiu-Jitsu is a much more reliable way of defending yourself. You can't disarm a man of his boxing or BJJ, it's just something that's inside of him. You can't cl…

Why would you need an excuse? Literally just suggest going to her place in a way that she has plausible deniability in order to avoid ASD. Netflix and chill is a phrase that exists for a reason. "Hey, you mentioned that you've never seen X movie, why don't we go back to your place and watch it on Netflix?" You can say pretty much anything.

If you're just doing full-on monk mode, then make sure you check out one or two of the guides on monk mode. It used to be a lot more popular on TRP than it is today, but if you type it into the search bar, you should find some good results. However, if you're interested in improving your game while you're improving your looks, I would recommend picking up a quality camera and learning how to take good photos of yourself. Improve your fitness, obviously, but also improve your fashion. Learn what …

Get better pictures, lose fat, gain muscle. Take a metric assload of pictures in different outfits (don't forget watches/necklaces/rings) in different places with different poses. If you're lucky, you might get 3 or 4 good pics out of a 100 pictures (assuming you're using a good camera). Eat slightly fewer calories than you consume, and you will gradually, sustainably, lose fat. Lift weights. If your phone camera is shit (ie you don't have a Pixel 3 or Iphone 11) then get a DSLR camera to take…

Right, and then when that's you're only personality trait, I"m sure that's completely accepted. What, you mean you talk about things other than Irish carbombs and screwdrivers? The entire point of the thread is that defining your life around pot is unattractive and is not indicative of good life decisions. Not that pot is bad in all circumstances no matter what.

I really think it ought to just be treated as alcohol Wait, so you do or don't think that getting high every day should be acceptable? Because, last I checked, getting drunk every day is not.
/r/askTRP04/07/20 03:20 AM
11

That wasn't the claim. If pot is your life then you're probably not living a very good life. It's no different from alcohol or any other drug. Nobody pretends that somebody getting sloshed every night and talking about nothing but their favorite brand of whiskey is healthy. How is pot any different? A drug habit is not a personality trait.

I've trained with people from every branch except Coast Guard. The Army got introductory level BJJ, but only really got good at fighting if they went out of their way to train. Only branch I would say actually gives an acceptable baseline level of competence in hand to hand is the Marines, and that's almost entirely because the Marines are indoctrinated to be so aggressive that they tend to compensate for lack of skill with sheer aggression. Training with Marines is always simultaneously hilario…

Early MMA featured a lot of very effective headbutting before the rules got stricter. Obviously a headbutt isnt elegant or pretty, but it's still an effective strike if used corrsctly.

Well, they are now and more and more women care less about money than ever before This is factually and statistically incorrect. The more educated a woman is, the more she wants to marry a man that makes more than her. Usually when you're fasting the hunger does fade somewhat, but that's going to depend on the person. Personally, whenever I fast for longer than 5 hours, the hunger goes away entirely and then will come back for 10-20 minutes a time every couple hours. This isn't actually all that strange if you think about it from the woman's perspective. If you act dominant and strong 95% of the time, then she feels like she's with a high value male. Frankly, 6% bf looks gross. It's just unhealthy. If you're a bodybuilder, it's fine, but for anybody looking for a sustainable weight that won't kill their libido and energy, hovering around 12-15% is going to put you way ahead of the vast majority of men out there without destroying your social life and making you hate food.

tbf, writing things out is an excellent way of figuring out what's in your own head. Most people have no idea what they actually believe and want, which is why you have to watch their actions instead of their words. Sure, in an ideal world, we would all put our personal concerns aside so that we can pursue justice. But why would you do that in the real world? For every 384 rapes reported to the police, only 7 result in a felony conviction. That means that a rape victim has virtually no hope of ever actually seeing justice.

Most people greatly overestimate how much muscle they're gaining, especially as beginners. A significant proportion of the weight people gain when they're lifting ends up being fat, especially when they're bulking and cutting. If you were to gain 20 lbs in your first year of lifting, assuming you're bulking, about 8 pounds of that is going to be fat, if you're lucky and it isn't more than that. To add to that, bulking and cutting creates the illusion of you gaining far more muscle than you actua…

Which is why most people recommend a range instead of a hard number. 0.5-1.5 grams per pound of bodyweight is the general consensus, meaning that people see good results anywhere in that range. Do what works for you, because different eating habits are going to work for different people.

Not necessarily. If you aren't bulking/cutting, but rather just eat when you're hungry and eat plenty of protein, you can expect to gain a few pounds of muscle every year. According to Greg Doucette, you can expect to gain about 8-12 lbs of muscle your first year lifting if you have good genetics, or 4-6 with bad genetics. Each subsequent year you tend to gain less and less muscle. Even with bad genetics, though, you can still put on 20 pounds of muscle over the course of those 7 years. If you h…

These are two different types of people. One type of person is the alpha take-charge that doesn't see the need to lie to a person just to assuage their ego, the other is the type of person that thinks any amount of lying is advisable on the off-chance that you don't have to deal with another human being. This is an extremely simplistic view of relationships. Sure, some women will only care about the provisions that they can get from you, but there are many out there whose primary concerns run far deeper than that and can't just be boiled down to one thing. I don't disagree that willpower and hard work are necessary components of building a good life, but the problem is that people often identify those as the only necessary components. Willpower simply isn't a resource that can be relied upon on a regular basis, and it's precisely for that reason that the best way to improve as a person is to find the ways of improving that you find most enjoyable. The idea that people no longer have fun online or no longer play good videos games is laughable. First of all, wasting time is wasting time, it doesn't matter which video game you waste time on. Second of all, if you think a brainless, repetitive time-sink like WoW is in any way better than games like the Life is Strange or Doom: Eternal, one of which has legit commentary on the nature of life as a human being and the other of which is just classic Gorey fun, you're delusional. That concept doesn't really apply here, it's about accepting failed relationships and moving on. When you befriend a woman, that isn't a failed sexual relationship, it's a platonic relationship that has the potential to become sexual. Like most forms of pleasure, it is neither good nor bad, it simply is. However, what is bad is suppressing natural urges and trying to shame yourself for them. This results in the formation of what Psychologist Carl Jung called "the Shadow," or the unconscious manifestation of things we don't like about ourselves. It isn't healthy and just causes for us to act out and lose self control and discipline.

As a counterpoint to this, knowing BJJ gives you a lot of security that I really don't feel like boxing would. With BJJ, you actually have the ability to dictate the pace and ending of a fight with an untrained opponent. The grass is always greener. Acting like men aren't made unbelievably stupid by social media, as well, is a touch ridiculous. All of us in the early-twenties age bracket have a two-second attention span unless we specifically seek to fix the issue.

Serious question, though: what harm would this cause if the 14 year old consented? Like, obviously if he's being forced into it, that's super fucked up, but what if he pursues her or initiates? How would that cause psychological damage? Again, this is a serious question, I just genuinely don't see how it would cause harm. If I were 14 years old and I convinced my smoking hot teacher to have sex with me, I would feel great about myself. I mean, I knew people that were banging each-other at that a…

If you want your sex life to be just a bit of fun you do on the side while you derive meaning from your career and hobbies, plates and one night stands are the way to go. Fundamental bodyweight exercises (pull-ups, dips, etc.) can be used to build muscle just as effectively as any barbell exercise. Using the magic of exercise progression, you can apply progressive overload just like you can with conventional weights. For back and biceps, Pull-ups are obvious. Find a bar or some rings. Mild fetishism aside, 35 year olds aren't hot because they're 35, Of course not. The reason that they can be attractive is because they put in the work necessary to build a sexy body and maintain said body. Every hot 30+ woman was 50 times hotter at 19 I can tell you for a fact that a woman that starts working out at 25 will be more attractive at 30 than she was at 19, I've worked out with several women that did just that.

I strongly disagree. Athletic women that take good care of themselves can be extremely attractive well into their thirties, and even their forties. The vast majority of men are going to prefer a fit, attractive woman in her thirties that knows how to use her body over a 19-year-old girl that only looks pretty because she's still young. No, the most attractive aspect of a man to a woman is how he makes her feel. Women tend to be more empathetic than men. If you're having fun and enjoying yourself, then she will, too. The emotional experience that a man enjoys will tend to be reflected in the way he makes those around him feel. Thus, it doesn't really seem like you disagree with anything more than the way that Woujo phrased this, as opposed to its actual meaning.

People in general are manipulative. Women are better at it than men; it's largely intuitive to them. I have yet to meet a woman that doesn't intuitively understand how to manipulate others and take advantage of that fact unconsciously. Or another way would be to make it seem more palatable on the surface. Instead of "women are hypergamous," go the Jordan Peterson route," women tend to mate across and up hierarchies." It's amazing how much more people accept controversial ideas when they're couched in scientific lingo.

Alpha vs Beta isn't an ugly vs attractive or fuckable vs provider dichotomy. "Alpha" is a descriptor for dominant, non-needy behavior, whereas "beta" describes needy, submissive behavior. The idea of AF/BB is that a woman would prefer to have sex with a dominant, "alpha" man, but will see more value in a long-term relationship with a more agreeable, submissive man, or will have sex with the "beta" if he is very attractive due to factors aside from his behavior (looks, money, fame, etc.). The point of the Red Pill is simply acknowledging the existence of power Dynamics in relationships. If you look at prominent Red Pillers like Rollo Tomassi, they usually argue that moving in with / marrying a woman creates a power imbalance in her favour. Thus, the meme of "don't get married unless you're over 30 and you've d…

According to all the RP stuff I've read, "post-wall" simply refers to when a woman's SMV has peaked and starts declining. It's not like a 10/10 is suddenly gonna become a 5/10, it's more like she starts aging in a negative way. Also, it varies from woman to woman - most women are going to be right around the age of 30 by the time they hit the wall, but depending on how well a woman takes care of herself, it could be years before or after 30.

Desire is not a choice. Attraction is not a choice. It sounds to me as if you're trying to negotiate desire, and she is effectively the female afc trying to negotiate for your desire instead of sparking genuine emotions. I can see why that would give you that mindset. I do agree that Live sparring or live grappling are absolutely critical to learning how to fight. I'm doing Judo rn after largely focusing on BJJ for the last year and a half. I would argue BJJ is superior if you're fighting a trained opponent and you have well-rounded game (ie, good ground game and good wrestling), but a good Judo throw will be enough to incapacitate or even kill an untrained opponent, and Judo should give you decent (not great) ground game by the time you hit Black Belt. This is largely true. Something to add though - the exhibition style stuff is fine, as long as it is considered secondary to actually learning how to fight. Just to be clear, most Martial Arts have a similar problem, with a few big exceptions where competition is too ingrained into the curriculum to allow for quality to slip. I think I can understand that. You don't want to go to a Martial Arts school that doesn't involve live training, as opposed to just working with a willing partner. Sparring is necessary to know what it actually feels like to get punched in the fact or kicked in the ribs.

Are you talking about a school that just doesn't spar at all outside of drills? Best for self defense? Judo. Never fuck with a Judo player unless you're oiled up and wearing nothing more than your skivvies. A good judoka can take any jacket you wear, throw you 360 degrees overhead and then choke you out with your own collar. But Of course, nothing beats ye olde gun-fu. Best for personal enjoyment? Depends on the person. If you enjoy hard cardio and the visceral thrill of a well-thrown punch, shoot for boxing or kickboxing. If you have wrestling experience or enjoy wrestling…

I heavily disagree. Krav has massive quality control problems, even moreso than a TMA like Karate. You'd be better off going to your local boxing gym, as you can know for a fact that youre learning how to fight there even if you are starting from square one, whereas the only way to know if a Krav school is legit is to already have Martial Arts experience before getting into it.

Women without any kind of overriding beliefs or convictions will. The odd introvert or hardcore Christian/Muslim/Jew will be able to override her desires, but people become less religious with every passing year. Also, that encompasses literally one aspect of female nature, that aspect being that women want to fuck attractive men. Shocker, people like to fuck attractive people. Far more interesting is the fact that women will prioritize social skills and power over physical attractiveness.

Would you mind explaining this for me? I thought that hypergamy was simply the idea that women tend to mate across and up hierarchies, is that not the case? Ie, a woman wants to be with a guy that has higher SMV than she does.

Start with something small like a five minute meditation. Once it becomes a habit that you can do every day without too much of an issue, stretch it out to ten minutes, then fifteen, and on from there. If you go whole hog right away, you'll get burned out and not take any value from it. The value is in the repetition as your brain learns how to focus and observe, not in torturing yourself for hours at a time. It's a lot like working out - more reps over the long term are better than getting in a…

What makes you think Game doesn't work? "Game" is simply the name given to how men seek out sex with women. Some guys do so like sociopaths, some men don't. You don't have to be a PUA or a Red-Piller to learn how to have "Game." Just look at a dating expert like Dave Perrota, who analyzed men that got laid a lot, copied what they were doing, and now makes a living teaching guys how to flirt and get laid. There's nothing nefarious or "pickup-artisty" about the Game that he teaches - it's simply h…

it’s the complete opposite of being dominant. Bullshit. If I push a woman onto the bed, pull her pants down, start eating her out, and make her edge right before I move on to PIV, that is the definition of sexual dominance. Being capable of giving a woman an orgasm with nothing but your tongue and having complete control over the pleasure you give her is the definition of dominance. The only thing a woman is going to feel towards a man that can make her experience multiple orgasms as foreplay is…

No, but think about it from an evolutionary perspective. If you're a hunter-gatherer, who are you going to trust, the man who has a large tribe and many friends, or the guy who's off on his own? One of those kinds of men has allies that he can rely on and has proven his willingness to help others by making so many friends. That's weird, I've never seen anyone on TRP say this. In fact, I recall reading a little while ago a field report where the entire thing was just a guy talking about being the life of the party and how important it is to talk to everyone it's possible to talk to in order to build social skills.

Tbf, most people think they want one thing and actually want something completely different. Many women claim to want a nice guy, when what they really want is a competent or a strong guy. Many men claim they want to settle down when their actions indicate just the opposite. It would not surprise me if men tended to react poorly to being approached by women, though I have no experience with it, so it could be just the opposite.

If you're asking if being selfish will make you happy, then no. It won't. Generally speaking, the most consistent means of generating happiness is in finding some kind of meaningful pursuit or mission in life and then pursuing it. Errol Flynn was selfish his entire life - he did drugs, lied, screwed around, fucked everything with two legs and a vagina, and ultimately died at the age of 50 miserable and broke after having spent his whole life living for his own pleasure and after having gotten fi…

Neither of these missions are higher than yourself. As human beings, we are hardwired to seek meaning by serving something that transcends our own pettiness. You need to find a Mission that you can be passionate about, and, speaking from personal experience, mere self development won't be enough of a Mission. Find a career goal and pursue it with everything you have. Find a way to serve your community and create a mission out of that. TRP is largely based in a perspective on evolutionary psychol…

This workout program will reduce overall volume by reducing the amount of weight that can be lifted with good form. There is a reason that 1-3 minutes of rest are recommended by virtually every good coach out there. Virtually every study on the matter indicates that in order to maximize overall volume (weight x reps) with good form, you have to have sufficient rest between sets.

Volume is the amount of weight you've been lifting multiplied by the number of total reps. Volume =/= reps. There is a reason that any science-based modern workout plan recommends 1-3 minutes of rest between sets, and that is because that is how you maximize volume without sacrificing technique.

So? An unattractive girl is just a girl that hasn't put in the work to be attractive. This is doubly so for guys. If you have nice skin, good nails, you're muscular, confident, stylish, and have good frame, the squareness of your jaw just straight won't matter. Most guys could be 8/10 if they put in the work. You don't have to be a perfect ten to get laid or make friends.

If you don't mind me asking, what method, if any, are you using? My reason for asking is that social interaction, imho, is an art just as much as drawing or fighting. When you want to get into Martial Arts, you usually find a teacher with a particular style, and then learn his style. Part of learning the style is in facing failure during practice, but also learning what works by following a particular method. If you want to befriend a woman that you're sexually attracted to, you need to first attract her before trying to ask her out. If she doesn't perceive you as a romantic option to begin with, odds are that the friend zone is where you'll stay. In Robert Greene's book ,"the art of Seduction," one of the things that he pointed out is something that every great seducer throughout history, from Casanova to Lord Byron to Soren Kierkegaard, kept in mind: picking the right girl to seduce. It isn't. Many, many women do things like falling orgasms to make their man feel better, or consent to sex only because the guy wanted it. Getting a guy off just happens to be simpler, and therefore require less tips like this to learn how. This is an interesting take, but I would argue that the cool girl aesthetic goes well beyond superficial aesthetics and into the classic idea of the dandy. A dandy is a man that takes on feminine aesthetics, such as taking great care about how he dresses, moves gracefully, or tries to look pretty. He attracts a woman by making her, in a sense, see herself in him; there's something strangely seductive about the pretty boy. Taking a step away from the perspective of sexual interaction, this is also a tenet of Stoic philosophy. When you are alone, you are in solitude, and there is no better place to improve yourself than in solitude. However, too much solitude, and you become just as weak as if you had too little. Thus you must strike a proper balance and learn to use solitude to your advantage while still being a generally social creature.
