Good God. What a fuck up. What a complete fuck up. And she has a good man as a husband and children. And she's dragging them down with her hippy feel good bullshit. You know, it's really his fault. He should have put a stop to this right off the bat. Easy talk, I know. Was married once and let her get away with shit that ruined us. You need a strong whip hand in any relationship if you really want to make it work.

Why the hell do you want that kind of drama and crap in your life? I mean, I get it. When I was younger it was just what went with seeing women. But I'm older now and just no way. It's not worth the trouble.

Well, it looks like this corona virus shutting down China is based on a sample we let some Chinese walk out of one of our labs with and ship back to the lab in Wuhan which weaponized it. And the Indian nuclear bomb is based on Candu nuclear technology we sold to India and made them pinky swear not to weaponize. And Huawei Canada is based mostly on Nortel Networks technology they stole and helped bankrupt by Chinese infiltration. And all telecoms based on Huawei equipment around the world is now …

Yeah, disinterested for whatever reason(s) in her little head. But stringing a person along and just using them is something else and just wrong. Bad actors are a fact of life everyone has to understand eventually.

My little cousin left her boyfriend for home after spending the day together. They were just kids. Took her about half an hour and he went off dirt biking with friends. She gets in and the phone rings. It was his mother telling her he's gone. Road through a blind back road stop at high speed and right into a large truck just getting through the intersection at the same time. No chance at all. Just how it is. Sad, though.

I'm older, in my 50's, and in my experience if a woman decides that she wants you, that's it. And she can be very perseverant about it. But if you don't interest her there are a hundred reasons and excuses. There's rarely a middle ground with them.

We'll probably be alright. Wash your hands. Have a couple of weeks of food tucked away. Beans and rice keep for years and are cheap. Same with canned meats. Remember bouillon cube packs and spices for flavour. Load your freezer with some meat. Oil for cooking. First aid kit. If it does come to locking down large areas here and a general quarantine then stay in. Strict no contact. Wash your hands. Don't touch your face/eyes. In that event having a month or two's worth of the above is not a bad id…

It was very much that way with my ex. We did complement each other in a way I've never had with another women. Literally completing each other's sentences, knowing what the other was thinking with a glance. All real. But she had the whole feminist indoctrination growing up and through university. Was involved in feminist causes after. So as good as things were along with the usual bumps of being with someone, it wasn't good enough. And she absolutely had to push for how independent she was and d…

I've known a number of people who have been through civil wars in their country. Over the years Lebanon, Sri Lanka, Yugoslavia, Syria. You don't get many choices if things collapse. Not a single one thought it was worth it. Most of us will be arrow stoppers as I heard the expression once. Fantasies aside, it's realistically what most of us would be good for when things go to crap.

Like I said, I've been in exactly the same place. Late 50's now and so have a bit of perspective. But I still shake my head at their nature. Just remember. You don't blame a snake for being a snake or a child for behaving like a child. You just deal with them as they are. Think of women the same way and you'll be way ahead of a lot of guys.

You keep asking how can she do this? I've been there. Most of us have. That's the thing, it's just their nature. Their "feelings" can turn on a dime and when you step back and look at the big picture, it's all about what you can do for her. Whether it's attention, money, sex, validation, whatever, it's all about extracting whatever resources she can from you when she needs it. You are of no use to her otherwise. You're confusing her nature with the nature of men. We are nothing like them when it…

OK. Reading what I wrote I came off as pretty much of a dick. Apologies on that. I teach university students and it's difficult to break them of the idea that the internet will do their work for them. That they have to show the independent work and analysis themselves. I've had students right in front of me copy the entire assignment question and paste it into Google search and work from what comes up. And these are technical STEM type problems. She may have been in a bad mood but women have been taught to be this way, this pushy entitled aggressiveness, and it looks horrible on any person. I have a friend who I dated briefly years past but we still stayed friends, and she is the same way. And she has no clue how she comes across to people. I've pointed it out and she feels completely entitled to this kind of attitude. And it's had consequences through her entire life but she's too stupid to understand this.

The memory was literally bare metal. Old ceramic magnetic core. Had the advantage that it held stored data when the power was turned off since that didn't change the ceramic cores' magnetic orientation. The machine I was using would get janky sometimes and so you'd roll out the cabinet holding the various circuit boards and wiggle them in place to get the connection to the bus back again. Worked like a charm. And while compiling your code (it took several minutes) the disk drives would ka-chunka…

This was on 1970's PDP 11's. There was no such thing as privileges at the time. Once your code started running that was the whole show. Only one single program running on the CPU and at the time there was no protected memory. So if you figured out the actual pertinent memory address in the loaded OS you could do what you want. The IMSAI 8080 could do the same. Yeah, I'm old. 👴😄

Yes, but that just lets you wrap around from the beginning of the array to it's end, going left as it were rather than right. But you still stay inside the same fixed size array. In Fortran you could access memory outside of the array by negative indexing into linear memory before the array because it's designers simply assumed no one would be crazy enough to do that. And this able to change the memory where the OS resides.

What about original Fortran, where integer variables are those that begin with the letters I to N and all others are real by default. And you could negative index arrays and directly modify the operating system while running a program. All as God intended proper programming languages to be.

Nope. I have a medium sized company and for anything out of the trades we don't hire from York or Ryerson. RiHi started granting Ph.D.s in engineering a few years ago and it's been a disaster. They have to set the entrance requirements so low just to get students, and most are foreign born from third rate schools themselves. Had a niece who attended both and the diplomas were worth it because they were very light trade programs. But they are not universities in any serious sense.
