I whole heartedly agree with this as someone who recently tried to commit suicide during this process. She called the cops on the day I tried to commit suicide. As much as it pissed me off but I am glad she did. The period since is the literal longest I've gone in my entire life without a suicidal ideation. Don't let your hurt stop you from doing what is best for your wife and children. The process works.

I think that is pretty common but I am not sure. It's called the cooling off period and starts when both the person who filed the petition and the joinder signs the petition and it gets filed for divorce. Until you both sign it's only a petition for divorce. I believe..... But I am an engineer and not a family law attorney. Google cool off period and your state.

In Washington state it's 90 days after both people have signed the petition.
