General Electric is taking a new dive at diversity with their first external CEO hire in 126 years - still a white guy, but maybe it is the change they need to find recovery. Gender can be a component of that diversity, though the company should be able to decide on their own. A leadership team that all has the same background and similar experiences may be more efficient for a single strategic direction, but they will be blind to many risks and opportunities that a diverse team might better see.
