...You know Chris Brown still makes music, right? Male celebrities get away with dogshit all the time. This isn't man vs woman ffs this is rich celebrity vs poor normal person. This will be Cardi B's first violent offense. If you have any education on US criminal justice, first-time assault is most likely no jail time. E: I'm not referring to the horrible things she admitted to doing to men. I'm referring to getting into a fight with the bartenders. It's also tricky considering she ordered her a…

As usual? People have told me to kill myself for disagreeing with them multiple times on this sub. I say men should be allowed to cry and some idiot says "check your T levels bro I feel for you."

This subreddit suffers from this shit all the time. There's some story about a mom who groomed her son to be transgender and it makes the rounds here every few months with them asking for donations. Of course RTNews is the source of it. There's memes that just say all women are evil / want men to kill themeselves. There's posts that seem like unironically trying to incite anger rather than push toward any sort of logical, rational action or discussion, and they make the front page here daily. …

Here, we have a classic from a month or so ago that decided to vilify the feminist use of the word "empowerment" to imply not only general murder, but infanticide and rape. Some edgelord demon-girl photo to liken women to. It's really hard to explain to people that I think men face issues too, without people immediately thinking I'm one of those thousands from this sub that upvotes things suggestive of vilifying womankind baselessly, or requesting that I kill myself on the grounds that I'm a wom…

I'm not a girl but I'm also not going to prove it to you lol... you seem very obsessed with finding that out about me. You're looking for a reason why a man might not agree with you. Despite how monolithic you think feminism is, you seem to think men are all on the same page as you. You're hateful, aggressive, and think I'm "dressing up words" for "feel goods" whatever the hell that means. You're not contributing. You're just embarrassing this subreddit.

I don't know how you guys deal with the influx. I appreciate the efforts you make to keep it sane here, but there's only so much you can do with the droves that flock here. Makes it really hard to have a discussion when someone is telling me to kill myself because they suspect I'm a girl, and when an army of lurkers believe feminism is about bringing the world population of men down to 10% of the total.

And feminism can potentially propogate mens' mental health issues when the crazy ones direct conversation, sure. But why is the parent I'm responding to getting upvoted to high hell for saying that feminists in general, as a collective mind, want men to kill themselves? Why is all of this vitriol so supported? I thought that was a minority opinion here? It was years ago. I'm so confused. I just want to talk science and studies, not ponder who can say the most hateful thing and suspect the darkes…

T levels are low Uh huh that's a classic one you guys like to use. Good assumptions. Very scientific. Very smart. I see you completely ignore the first part of my post, care to chime in? No. You're not interested in actual discussion so it's not worth the effort. Nothing I say would change your mind about anything so you're by definition not thinking critically and not worth trying to convince. I'm a man. My mental health has increased immeasurably once I stopped giving a shit how manly my haircut is and started sharing my emotional issues with my fellow men and the women I'm dating. Men kill themselves for being too short and too scrawny, and for hiding their mental health problems. My point is to stop caring about being short, and to start addressing your mental health and taking your emotions seriously. But yeah, how very destructively regressive of me.

You and /u/PixelPete85, have a look at the replies I'm getting. People are literally saying that the feminist agenda is to reduce men to 10% of the world population. Weeks ago it was some edgelord demon-girl meme that had a bunch of baseless statements about how violent and infanticidal women are (here... lol). Months ago it was some story we proved 50,000 times on this subreddit was bullshit, about a mother grooming her son to be transgender, a story that was only pushed by RTNews and some hype…

Nobody stands up to the men on this subreddit that just say pointlessly hateful, paranoid things. The most vocal advocates make this sub a laughing stock for 98% of non-subscribed viewers. I am indeed also frustrated that feminists don't try to reign in their own crazies. I also understand why it's hard to get behind anything egalitarian when all you hear from are these crazy loudmouths. It frustrates me too. I'm just saying this sub gets what's coming to it when everyone else finds it to be a m…

I would say it's a variety of things. Like for example giving your guy friends shit for tearing up or being into things that aren't wholly masculine. Failing to recognize that women cross the threshold from feminine to masculine in many areas of life without any harm or judgment coming to them, and that men should feel comfortable doing the same. It's assuming that problems should be solved with fists, "man-to-man" (in my opinion, some problems are actually solved with fists, but many are not). …

If you think this is how an average feminist thinks then hooooly shit this sub is really off the deep end now. Have you ever spoken with one? Misandry might be part of some of their operating systems, but... I actually don't know how to explain to you that the average modern feminist doesn't want men to kill themselves for being men. Go talk to people that don't agree with 100% of everything you say. See what they have to say. Edit: And also, even if you've had a conversation with a few crazies,…

There is absolutely zero science behind what these people are saying. The sub has just turned into: Me: "Look at THIS crazy article! OMG women!!!" Commenters: "Wow I bet [crazy assumption about woman's character traits that are not directly related to the article.]" \ "[inciting violence]." So citation needed I... think the citation is needed on your end there. Sources matter, too. I am aware that there is a gender gap in sentencing holding criminal activity constant, but I'd like to see where you're pulling from. I'm curious too; if you're willing to accept that there's a gap in male-female sentencing for same crimes, do you think such a gap exists along racial lines as well? I made essentially the same complaint on this post. Please be assured that many men's rights activists (honestly, I feel better calling stable people egalitarians to separate the brands) are not like the rejection-of-science lunatics you see here. Even within this sub there are plenty of people who would rather stick to statistical discussions and evade this edgelord demon-girl characterization. What the fuck is this image? This presentation? How is this a post about "Legal Rights?" Anybody who assaults, murders, abuses, or rapes, has a bunch of excuses they'll try to swing around in court. Crazy men murder people and have stupid excuses for it as well. You can talk about discrepancies or anecdotes about how a woman evaded justice all you want, but this is literally just trying to frame a group as "the enemy", which is blatant vilification. And somehow this doesn't count as a "low-effor…

I swear to fuck at least a decent fraction of the stories that make headlines on this sub are either non-falsifiable or shittily reported. And then the comment section blows up with how "unacceptable" the supposed event is. Meanwhile, on the subs that these same people criticize, people hear about rape accusations and talk about how "unaccpetable" the supposed event is, and so people from this subreddit throw spitballs and say how people are just believing everything they hear. Do you have any good sources on this? I have bullshit from CoventryLive, Daily Star and some other bullshit. people assume that since there's a gap it must be due to discrimination. Lay people, anyway. If you're actually studying the field rigorously, you will find that we separate two camps: (1) statistical discrimination (teacher thinks boys are more likely to cause fights than girls, so is less willing to let them argue in class than girls, even though this pair of boys may not be prone to violence); (2) taste-based discrimination (I don't like you because you're X). MensRights has had an inflow of conspiracy anti-women propoganda for like the past year now, so the rational conversations about factual Mens' Rights articles have been replaced by dystopia-porn drivel and riducle from other subs. You can't believe it's actually a thing because it's not actually a thing. Your instincts are correct: This is a SCAM. Many, many women love men and masculinity. When people only browse mens' pages, they build the same echo chamber of hatred and anger that they accuse feminists of living in (which, of course, some of them do).

...What? I'm against women saying they have it worse in every conceivable way too. Is it honestly beyond the reasoning of people on this sub that, it may be possible that men and women have different struggles that the other doesn't, and that it may be difficult to evaluate who has it "worse" from an objective standpoint because so much of human suffering is subjective and frame of mind? Man(woman)splaining: telling a woman(man) that they are wrong / don't understand / arent credible on a subject not strictly pertaining to one sex (e.g. strictly would be: how painful periods are, how bad a kick in the nuts feels) because of their sex. MensRights has finally jumped the shark and become such conspiratory extremists that I can't even associate with them anymore. Even if she has done nothing but stand in the way of men's rights up until this post (which I seriously doubt), don't you think it's possible she's changing her tune because she's, you know, thinking critically, and gradually changing how she will act and write? You bashing her just further pushes her back toward the group you hate most. When somebody tries to meet you halfway, you don't scream and scare them back to the polar opposite. That's not how progress happens.

Explain to me how one person "actively works" to dismantle your problems for you. Does she donate to some cause? What else can she do? Words are usually how people incite action. Without context the message evaporates into an angry condensed woman-hating haze. It could better be framed in the light of "women have safe haven laws; men do not. Women have an act specifically geared toward their safety in court and public; men do not. Men sign up for the draft; women do not."

To quote myself from 4 minutes ago, quoting myself from one hour ago: I find it somewhat obvious that women are treated softly in criminal processing. I'm not trying to be a smartass, but there is a serious disconnect between what you think I'm saying and what I am saying. Also to quote myself from an hour ago: I'm saying that both men and women are wholly capable of using mental illness (using could mean either succeeding in faking it, or honestly having it) as a means to evade prison or reduce…

From one hour ago, replying to you: I never said that men and women receive the same sentence for the same crime. And I never argued that women and men appeal for lighter sentencing successfully to the same extent; I find it somewhat obvious that women are treated softly in criminal processing. Also from hour ago, replying to baskandpurr directly: I'm not arguing that men and women serve different sentences for the same crime.
/r/MensRights01/02/17 09:23 PM

Would you like me to assume that? Because it seems to be a pretty strongly-worded stance, hyperbole or not. Even if it is, I included an edit long before your reply that begins: to reinforce admittedly anecdotal evidence, mental illness is a commonly used tactic. Ergo if whether he was using hyperbole or being completely serious, I covered both the easy anecdotal rebuttal and the general counter. I thought I worded things pretty clearly, but I'll be more careful in the future.

I apologize for coming off as confrontational, but please reread what /u/baskandpurr said: A man who commits a crime is *never suffering from a mental illness of some sort. At least, not in a way that gets their sentence reduced. I was addressing him directly; to disprove an absolute I used the anecdote. And to echo something else I said (not in the post you're replying to; the other one on this thread), I never said that men and women receive the same sentence for the same crime. And I never ar…

I'm not arguing that men and women serve different sentences for the same crime. I'm saying that both men and women are wholly capable of using mental illness (using could mean either succeeding in faking it, or honestly having it) as a means to evade prison or reduce the sentence. If a man murders his wife for cheating on him with his best friend, recognize that this can be proven not to be the exact same thing as a premeditated 1st degree murder. Name me an instance where a woman murdered her …

To echo your sentiment and angrily reply to /u/baskandpurr 's assumption, here is an instance where a man burst out in court because his son's murderer, who pleaded guilty, also used mental illness as a way to avoid prison and instead go to a mental hospital. Edit: to reinforce admittedly anecdotal evidence, mental illness is a commonly used tactic in court by lawyers for both men and women to evade lengthy prison sentences. I think it used to be called an "insanity plea" but it is completely an…

Oh got it so there's a proverbial scoreboard keeping track of the rights and wrongs against each gender and race across time, and the individual shares the burden of guilt of the whole. I guess all the whites, men and women, should line up for their floggings then. if you're helping one group that is already advantaged then is that the moral equivalent to hurting the other group that is not advantaged? I don't know about the morality of it, but in economics we have a concept of Pareto Optimality wherein one of its tenets states that no particular group in a society can be made better off without harming another. I mean I think it's bigoted, sure, but the action does not harm anyone and helps a select group. Isn't it your right to do that? There are tons of "African Americans in [major field here]" scholarships and those are hailed as directives from god himself.

I think it's a "just like me" fallacy. People feel validated if members of the group with which they identify most agree with their lifestyle, or even envy it. So if you have a woman in aero engineering and none of "her people" followed suit, it's easier to try to get "her people" into the field to make her feel normal than to accept she's an outlier.

I'm curious what you guys think about all of these targeted scholarships. Obviously a private entity has every right to award scholarships based on any criteria; if I'm a gay man and want to use my millions to fund getting more gay men into finance, I have every right to do so, right? It just seems a bit pointless exclaiming that we need "more women in X", or "more men in Y" without offering a rationale beyond ratio-balancing. I think a lot of these sources are just simplifying the facts. The initial release declares that infertility is a huge side-effect, as is depression. These were some of the more rare effects. The more common included mood swings, acne, increased/decreased libido, etc.. So some shit journalist from Cosmo just sees mood swings and things "hah! Get a load of this! Of those who post, do you think the sick fucks who find it funny may be more excited to post than the rational people who are moderately upset? There's women who are upset, too. Disclaimer: I don't like Trump. But maybe he is triggering. So? Good, now those women know they have intolerable social pressure points and can seek therapy or other medical care to alleviate those stressors that would otherwise make them dysfunctional cogs on the rim of society. You know men are allowed to wear vnecks too right? Like that's not a right exclusively held for women. If it makes you feel better, at my university all such posters are gender neutral. In the male bathrooms they even have posters stating that domestic violence happens to men and that it isn't wimpy to seek help. You don't have to go straight to being an angry person, you know. We can talk this out. I didn't catch that the judge implied the victim of the same crime being female would be aggravating, but I'll do a good reread because as you say that would change my interpretation of what he said. Edit: Based on what you've said and my rereading, there isn't anything I'd like to rectify in my original post. Thank you for the input though.

Full quote: "The judge noted he could not reduce the sentence starting point just because the offender was a female and the victim a male. 'Gender is irrelevant ... The absence of an aggravating factor is not a mitigating factor.'" Even so. Feminism forwarding the awareness of men's issues only seems like a win to me (esp. considering that in this case it actually is helping instead of arrogantly downplaying the issue by mentioning women "more importantly"). If it's worth anything, there are other posters in the bathrooms that talk about sexual assault, alcohol responsibility, quitting smoking tips, etc. All in gender-neutral ways. Agreeing on all fronts here. Beyond eating disorders, thyroid problems can affect weight gain and loss as well. Of course being a decent human being I can sympathize with genetic predispositions. Sorry for late reply! I agree though they were very quick to turn that around on us... like if we talk about our problems it means we aren't taking their's seriously. It's as if we shouldn't have a police department because it takes away from how serious house fires are.

Exactly. Women are trying to progress their gender's standing by downplaying men. They automatically disinterest 50% of the adult population from their discussion this way. Maybe, just maybe, if we talk about the issues of both genders and take them equally seriously, equality would be possible? I mean for f**k's sake this subreddit wouldn't even EXIST if they just pushed for equality in the first place.

Men and women are equal, but women need soft cuddly jail cells to cope with the stress of it. In fact, prison is too hard on women - the poor emotional things - so they get across-the-board reduced prison sentences .-. honestly these kinds of policies aren't even pro-women; they're more insulting to them than I could ever be.
