I know buddy, there’s no preparing for this only surviving now. Of all the advice, after what has happened in your case, I strongly advise you do not interact with your wife alone anymore, always try have a witness (that you can trust to be honest not one sided) or better yet record absolutely all interactions, as someone first said she is your enemy now, be strong.

Honestly, I don’t know if would’ve made a huge difference but I’d not offer divorce as an option, allow me to explain. We’re over 2 years separated now and we’ve always been very amicable, no abuse, violence or cheating. We started to lose our connection (it pains me to say) after we had our third child and first son. We were both thrilled that he came along and that we had three healthy kids, all seemed well. My Wife comes from a large family and their father was violent and mean. I’m certain m…

Correct and extremely, shockingly true, what a pitiful waste.

You’re bang on here OP, I got this sanctimonious shite of a response as well and much like you say here I can confirm not one bit of any such repair/effort to rescue the relationship was attempted or even considered by her just fucking ‘I’m done’, such a fucking wasteland made of 16 years and three perfect, wonderful kids’ happy lives ffs

Yep 50/50 too and hate every second I’m alone without them unless with family or a buddy to help me forget my loneliness without them for a few hrs but hits me immediately again when they go and I’m alone in my place while the kids are in the family home with her

Exact same type of divorce as I’m experiencing friend. It’s so disappointing, we’ve been through a miscarriage before then being blessed with 3 perfect, healthy children in a lovely house and 16 years married and that too is where I’ve ended up, such a waste ! It’s really not good enough and yet she just doesn’t seem to care that we could’ve tried to work to repair it and save it but not once would she engage in any therapy, counselling or anything although I wanted to because, like you said abo…

I have the exact same feelings as you. Feel she went a similar way to your Mrs, just flipped in her head, vows meaning nothing, no desire or understanding to fight for our family’s future, 3x kids under 12. There was no fighting, cheating or any other obvious major issue between us. I am at times shocked she is happy for this to be the future but I think it’s already beyond the point of no return but yet if she sought to try repair things even now I would engage willingly, mid 40’s both of us. I…

You need to end that thinking now, there are (thankfully I’ve learned first hand) plenty of better adjusted women than her out here ! Even if your Mrs is a 10 there’s plenty of perfectly good 6’s, 7’s and 8’s that may prove to be 10’s in the bedroom because they want it more, so end it for your sake bud, we all deserve better 🤞

I’m going to briefly contribute, I met a new girlfriend recently after 1 year post split, we hit it off ridiculously well, it’s great so far and honestly even if it doesn’t last for long I’ll never forget these early days with her, it’s been so sweet and such a connection that I have literally felt like I’m a teenager again experiencing it all for the first time (PS I’m 46), butterflies, longing to see her again when apart for a few days, the works and it’s been beautiful. TLDR: In my very recen…

Same here except only 15 yrs, I’ve slowly resolved to accepting I’ve a second shot at life for myself so I’m gonna embrace that. Was a side swipe though, try remember the you from before it and remember dreams and goals you had on your own, this can be your second shot at them. My kids are still, well, kids. I assume yours are grown and independent or close enough to it ? If so that’s an advantage, try embrace the possibilities because that’s all you can do when she goes like this. I wish you th…

So yeah you’re basically in my marriage, mine probably not as extreme but more or less nailed in your first half paragraph and we’re seperated 10 months after just over 15yrs marriage now so yeah exit time bud, it’s gonna suck and there’ll be down points, I’ve 3 kids I love between 6 + 12 but no man deserves the treatment you and I have taken so unreasonably, I almost wish one of us had cheated or been violent just to make it make more sense sometimes but that kinda crap is unacceptable too, for…

I can’t even get her into counselling, her statement was ‘I’m done, I’m checked out’, you know, of course, checked out after 15yrs of which 14 were happy, 3 kids, just about getting our ideal house over the line after 15 months of legal issues, everything was good but yeah our last year we weren’t paying each other enough time and attention but fully ‘I’m done, I’m checked out’ and to hell with the kids happiness, the home we’ve raised them in nailed down as ours, no effort to attempt relationsh…

It’s catching in Ireland too, a lot, I’m still not sure how or why but it is happening to me also, 15yrs/3 kids under 12 and my story is like above here, no cheating, no violence/abuse, just a lack of following through on the vows when some difficult times had to be endured much like roshi-roshi describes above

Yes to your last paragraph, poor communication was a big problem from her, she just wouldn’t try, I pleaded, I was always expected to ‘just know’ 😒

I’m defo subscribed to this one, I thought nothing of it when her literal best friend got a divorce 4 years into our marriage, 15+ yrs of marriage and now it’s what she wants and where we’re headed and I’m convinced this was a strong factor, neither of us cheated just needed to put recovery work in after 3 kids but she just shut off, I can tell by the way she has totally changed her mind on a few decisions/agreements lately that she definitely has a devils advocate she lets affect her and my mon…
