Unless there is more to this story, or perhaps the author was privy to some other quotes from this man that the rest of the readers didn't see, how exactly was the leap made from what the man was quoted as saying to defining his response as race based. You needn't openly fight those people, its a waste of your energy. But we see this same dynamic in place with muslims.
