The economy has changed so substantially since the 60s when over 70% of the same age group was married. Largely this is because people in the 18 - 29 age range are not financially able to marry as they were back in the day. It's hard to get started out these days. Especially post-Great Recession. It's not racist to want to pass on your heritage/ethnicity to the next generation. My SO and I are almost exactly the same as far as ethnicity goes (German/Slavic/Irish) and honestly I kind of like the idea of passing that heritage on.
