I think it highlights the abusive, paternalistic way in which the state punishes people that are already hurting themselves. It's the same thing with drug abusers. Well, maybe you could sue for damages related to your loss of a degree, since it is a public university. The way they have it set up under state law they pretty much give the university free reign.
