Feminists don’t deny gendered behavior they disagree about the origins of that behavior, wether it is inherent to biological sex or learned. Feminists wouldn’t deny that more women are nurses then men are nurses, aka denying gendered behavior, they would just argue that rather than there being some biological cause that makes women better nurses, that is about societal expectations of caregiving and pressure on men to measure value by career prestige.

One study was about physical work and the other was focused on women who have pms/pmdd and did not allow them to take medication. Not every woman has pms and every woman I know takes meds during her period.

You fundamentally misunderstand the pay gap. Women are payed less because they are thought of as less competent. There is tons of research on how women are seen as less competent then equivalently credentialed male counterparts.

There's a couple things in this to respond to. For a lot, possibly all, of people here that may be the source of the rage but the comment I responded to, the top comment, is a victim calling for help and being told they can't get any help because they must be the abuser. I think you and I can agree that a better solution would be to have the lines be switched to gender neutral services. One for victims and one for people coping with anger and abuse tendencies. As I've been mentioning in a couple places, what made me want to comment in the first place was that this thread is full of people talking about how men who are victims can't get help, when it clearly says they can.

You, earlier in the thread mentioned having the hotlines be split by reason for calling rather than by gender and I think that's a good solution. I don't think this is good copy for the website but I also found it disingenuous that there is a thread full of rage that men who are victims can't get help when it clearly says they can.

This is a service in which people report domestic violence, the place where that 85% number comes from, meaning of victims who do call in most are women. Yes men under report but that's exactly the point. This is where they are mostly not calling. And as a personal aside. I think one helpline for victims and one for people struggling to manage their anger is a perfect solution to this problem. I only commented because I think the anger about this particular thing is being used to justify a lot of mean spirited shitty comments while ignoring the fact that the helpline does in fact offer victims services.

That's not a perfect analogy because of the difference between active and passive. How not to rape vs how not to be raped. Offering advice for what to do if you feel yourself getting violent isn't the same thing as blaming someone for receiving violence. The copy of the site should be rewritten to make clear that they offer both services but I don't think it's unreasonable that the copy reflect what they have more calls relating to or more experience in.
