always finding something else interesting about them other than the fact that they are attractive is one thing. I've at least caught the attention of girls I would think were way out of my league by doing this. Otherwise, I don't know. Start rolling with friends who aren't afraid to call you out on it, or female friends you can trust to tell you what's up. The other thing too is that you might be overblowing how many times this actually happens, so it feels hopeless. I know that's definitely a t…

I just feel like I build the most rapport with women when we're doing something mutually fun i.e. out at an event with a mutual interest like an sporting event or a concert. It definitely gives you an "in" and kind of an easy way to strike up conversation with someone not even necessarily women. I don't know if I can really say I've had experience, but most of the women that have expressed interest in me in the past seemed to respond to me better when met in those conditions you know? I obviousl…

I'm inferring a bit, but it sounds like you're a bit outcome dependent. Are you flirting because you feel like flirting, or flirting because you have a target? There's a difference, and guess which one women respond to better? I'm on that road to learning as well man, but this previous realization was one of the things that helped me get warmer reactions.

Change your goal to simply make a friend or make them smile, and go in and be social. I feel like this is part of my problem is that I never feel like escalating and I just feel comfortable doing just that. I have to wonder if I'm missing opportunities by being comfortable with just this level of interaction, or if I'm just somehow subconsciously bitching out.

I feel like I'm subconsciously picky. There's only a few women that make the voice in my head goes "hey, go talk to her" and then when I do I feel like I have to make it go somewhere, shattering outcome independence. Anything less just ends up being friendly banter. Anybody else been in a similar situation, and how did you get out of it? Is there a way to still get practice escalating even when you're not interested? Should this be in a separate thread?

yep, that' exactly what I do. It's getting past that initial conversation that I have trouble with, because I have such little experience even getting to that point.

I think the common thread in every single one of those stories was he found something interesting about the woman besides her being attractive. I don't know how many of us feel the same way, but just finding that something is a bit of a struggle for me.

Simple rules are: Drink plenty of water Exercise a few times a week (doesn't have to be crazy intense) Drop sodas Drop junk food, for the large part Get regular sleep Take vitamins Get a medical check up for allergies, blood levels, etc. Eat fresh fruits, also, drop juices Go out for walks/hikes/bike rides more Can confirm. I did all of those things and I have better social skills now. Still working on the social life part though...for the most part I still live in my own head

Gonna take a shot in the dark here. Do you go to Berkeley? If so, the party scene isn't just the frat and co-op parties. There's way more to college than partying with the Greeks and the Co-Ops. Join a club (God knows, there's so many out there), or two, or three. Talk to people in your major. Party with people that you'd be genuinely interested in interacting with rather than social practice. I was in marching band and we had way better parties than any frat or co-op I've been to. Even my resea…

You'll find that when you have many things going on in your life there's less time to be worried about silly things like a girl not liking you or a girl rejecting you. Haha, this is actually a big part of why I never dated in college and high school. I never worried enough to actually get someone, just moving on every time I got turned down. I just figured they'd come along at some point if I'm interesting enough. I forgot to factor in that I'm not actually that attractive (I am 5'3", balding, a…

Good places to shake off AA and just generally get started if you're still working on losing weight? Going to bars usually kills my calorie goals, and I'm generally clueless where else I could go. I don't frequent any eating establishments either because it's really hard to keep within my calorie goals if I did that regularly. Any advice?

if she said "well, I don't really know what to do" as was the case here, then yeah it would be. Otherwise, if they're already doing their own thing, then don't do that.

Shitty writing in 50 Shades of Grey is like shitty acting in porn. The ones who get the most out of it are either ignorant of it or don't give a shit.

well, the general student population is pretty much a "cold approach" as you'll get from the general population. Social orgs are definitely the way to go, and even then a lot of the other student orgs are social on some level, and on the individual level definitely so.

I don't get this. There's plenty of other opportunities to socialize/meet girls in college outside of the classroom, like in student groups or bars and stuff. It's not like you only meet girls you take the final with. I'm now facepalming that I didn't take advantage of it (or...well, should have made time to take advantage of it I should say)

Are you active on Bay Area Seddit? You can find guys to go out with in SF almost every night. Easy way to find motivation and start working. Not active on that at all, but I don't find a whole lot of activity down here in the South Bay. I'll keep looking though. Also, a lot of people don't like, or are not comfortable in, bars. Or rather they don't start out that way. I know I was intimidated when I started going out. Get over it. Most of seduction is about pushing your comfort zones until you'r…

watch stand-up or podcasts of funny guys. I became funnier when I watched this guy's webcasts (Starcraft webcaster day9, if you're into that). Funny is spontaneous. The same jokes won't be funny in a different situation. Watching these guys just be spontaneously funny goes a long way towards getting the rhythm, because that's what funny is, finding the rhythm in something, and breaking it. As an exercise, when you're hanging out with friends, see something out of place and think of something fun…

The ones I have here are...not the best to meet girls through. Love hanging out with them, but they're just as clueless and unconnected as I am. Should have mentioned that off the bat, since that's a pretty big one. I'm trying to find new friends who I would be down to do more of the things I've been wanting to do. Thanks for the tip though...guess I'm already doing what I need to be doing.

Newbie here. ok, so I think I'm interesting, and I don't really have issues striking up conversation with attractive women. However, after a few months of lurking and reflection, I feel like my main problem is just meeting women in the first place. The places the sidebar talks about, bars and stuff I feel out of place at. Day game places like the grocery store or the gym, I'm just too wrapped up in what I'm doing or thinking that I don't really notice anyone or strike up converrsation. Any other…

Thanks for the FR. I find a lot of my problem is getting into state in the first place. Even if I do get myself out there, I never feel like actually doing anything you did, not necessarily because I was holding myself back, but because they never felt natural to me. Interesting to see how someone else as inexperienced as I am could get into the state where that felt natural. Extremely helpful actually. Good stuff and congrats!

This. You can't tell from a single interaction, there's so many variables. You have to find 10 jacket chicks and have them all turn their back to you before you actually figure out what it is you did wrong, or if you were doing anything wrong in the first place.

This makes so much sense. I realize right now when I did these things to girls with the intention of being platonic, I got a better response than many of my more overt efforts.

Thank you, this really helps. I've been looking for that first step for a while now and this might just be the ticket. It might be a while before I get to do that though because it's hard to balance going out every week and losing weight at the same time, but this definitely gives me something to work with.

Your mom's awesome, no wonder you have the confidence to do all that at 18. She has raised you well. EDIT: Didn't want to imply it was all your mom. Of course I commend you on that! Hell when I was 18 I had a serious case of oneitis that would cripple me for my first two years in college.

This is actually reassuring for a novice like me that stuff like this can have a positive effect on even a married woman apart from actually getting her. I'm of course mindful that not every woman is the same, but having it actually turns out positively like this despite not landing the woman gives me courage. Thanks for sharing!

it's right there in the side bar :) Seriously though, that's how you do it. You don't even have to be picking up girls, just talking to random people. I feel that a big part of the AA I had is just striking up random conversation with people. I got over that, and I'm working on extrapolating it to talking with random girls in particular.

The truth is more than just you being a virgin and not having a GF. The truth is about what is awesome about you, and what you have to offer to a girl. You can't say you ever try to say the truth if you never give them the whole truth. Being uncomfortable with a truth is just as bad as being uncomfortable with a lie. Own it.

Thank you for this great post. It's put to words a few things I was feeling about this sub, and while I do think this sub is absolutely sexist, I actually don't think it's bad, at least if taken in the right contexts. It's kind of like how in physics you start out figuring things out in a perfect world, then you add in complexities as you see fit. So a lot of this objectification is really just to get people of the type that usually frequent seddit to see how attraction works. Even the judging b…

This is good, thanks! I don't know if you caught my edit, but this is exactly what I realized, that I just approached better in a situation where something interesting was readily apparent. It's not that I wasn't interested in the girl but that I wasn't interested in having conversation with anyone at all (except for the friends I went there with). This gives me a good thinking points, methinks, and a good base to reflect on.

Your point about day-game just made me realize something: those situations you've described usually involves me or her actually being engaged in something already, or there's other interesting things going on. Maybe it's just that in bars I have no interest in conversing about what she's doing at that particular moment or what's happening then. Now that I think about it, I open easily when I have something in immediate perception to talk about. This might really be my problem. Now to figure out …

Hmmm, by "social circle" do you mean having known them before, or having people in common? Because I'm definitely talking about girls I don't know, and while mutual acquaintances provide talking points as the conversation wears on, I don't feel like it depends on that. Perhaps it's just the ambience of being with people you know even if you don't know a lot of the other people there, but the same can be said of me going out to bars (I never go out alone). The problem as stated is that it just ne…

This was exactly what I was thinking, that the disinterest was a coping mechanism. But I don't even know where to start getting out of it, particularly if I don't seem particularly interested in the girls I see. The only thing I can think of is just to talk to anyone and everyone with abandon and see where it goes from there, but that just seems like a shot in the dark for me, especially since I feel like I don't have problems striking up random conversations, even with women I find attractive (…

You bring up a very good point about the being distracted thing. That was definitely me in college and it's no wonder I didn't go out to meet girls more. That being said, I never really think about holding myself back, or I don't reason myself out of it, at least not consciously. Like I said the thought literally does not occur to me until after I've left the bar. To be clear, I don't have particular problems with approaching someone should I find the interest (though I might have problems on wh…

Feel ya brother. What alternatives do you go for instead of the bar/club scene? I'm guessing there's something about that that doesn't jive with me, and I'm not sure if I need to get over it or not.
