I don't need equality because I've had it for the past 42 years ... does she realize the irony?

The only advantage I see in monogamy is lowering the risk of contracting an STD. And even in monogamy, people cheat all the time. I mean, I'm artsy but I'm not a hippy. Someone told me I'm very cat-like and I think this is accurate, with the exception of knocking over vases and glasses. I don't know how else to explain it.

That's disgusting. It shouldn't be a fucking competition.

Marriage is trendy... The guy doesn't really matter in the equation Ew. I hate my gender so much. Is EVERYTHING just for the Facebook brag??

That's why men... love being single. All that freedom (etc.) I think I just realized why I hate monogamous relationships, love being single, and don't get along with guys who want to date me "the old fashioned way"... I might be a man on the inside...

I don't like to be locked down so why would I inflict that feeling on anyone else? I love to travel and go do things on my own and I always have this nagging feeling of guilt if I have an SO at home who wants to join me. I like to do things on my own and I hate feeling like someone is stopping me. Edit: Plus I'm not into kids so the whole genes thing is "meh" to me.

It's not that I don't think they're marriage material. It's not that. I just don't know why marriage is logical, especially since my friends and I are in our early 20s.

Ahh I see. I didn't mean to be that person!

I don't know if this will help or not, but you are still so young. The idiot made her choice and she's going to regret it one day. When she's wallowing in that stupid mistake, you're going to have moved on already, with yourself and possibly another person. Either way, you did all you could and you're a great man for that. You deserve all the best.

I never needed to be converted; I've always been this way, but I never had a community I had faith in, with similar views as mine.

I love how classy this subreddit is, too. What I've read so far in the comments and from the mods is nothing but good manners and tough love. This is exactly what I want when I need support or advice. When I say, "I need to hit the gym", too many of my friends tell me, "omg stop you're not even fat. Don't beat yourself up". Who said anything about beating myself up? Hello?! I'm at least 50 lbs overweight, easily, and I'm 18 years old! You should be happy for me trying to improve my body! I won't…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
