Is it usually 1 date per week? Is that so it doesn't come off as needy? I would avoid any advice that sets hard numbers on anything because I don't think there's a perfect answer. I said 2-3 because that's the amount I could reasonably imagine in 2 weeks. Not because more makes you seem needy, but because I have shit to do and I assume anyone I'd be pursuing would also. When is the time where it you start seeing the other person more frequently than that? Again, no set answers here, I personally…

Have you ever been half way through a Taco Bell binge and decided you probably shouldn't have had Taco Bell so you say "No more" and stop eating Taco Bell. Now imagine the Taco Bell, knowing you didn't want to eat anymore because you said so, forces you to keep eating.

Unless this video is taken the second before penetration yes she could be pushed. Consent doesn't sit in a permanent state. Even if dick was inside if someone asks the other to stop and it doesn't it's rape. Male or female.

False rape accusers aside. This app is kind of stupid. It's still rape even if consent is given and then 20 seconds later she changes her mind. This might maybe help in a case where a girl pretends to have never said she was down to pound, but I can't imagine it would make a tidal wave of difference. This app is just as pointless as a fart simulator.

I don't think they want to attract anyone that doesn't promote feminism....or anyone that doesn't agree with every aspect of how they define it. I had heard stories about their banning practices and likewise posted my disagreements in the most vanilla way I could. ....aanndd I'm banned.

I think the language could be tuned a bit. Everyone, but especially women, should be cautious. I don't think you should assume every man is a rapists, but it may not be a bad idea to keep in mind that anyone might be.

I have heard some nasty stories about their Mods which is pretty annoying. Also, in your second paragraph you interchanged women with feminism and men with MRA which aren't interchangeable. IMO feminisms biggest opponent is women that think feminism has to mean "Men are evil." Oddly enough I think men may be MRA's biggest obstacle.

The Feminist attack on MRM is something I don't see often. Even within Reddit is rare to see a post on the Fem sub about MRM. The articles that do exist like the Megan Koester article posted yesterday are attacked by MRM members with aggressive language. I'm not defending Feminism largely because I don't think it needs my defense. I think MRM and a Feminism both have good ideas. That said I have a very hard time supporting what this sub spends most of its time doing. Damning Fems and pretending …

I feel like this can be said about most MRA/Feminist issues. They seem to think of each other as opposites, but that's only true if you consider men and women opposites. I thought MRA would be about challenging social norms, but instead it appears they just mainly like to shame Feminists. My hope is that someday some of them will realize what they're doing is futile and move on to something that matters.

After reading this post I did a simple Google search and found several articles discussing the issue. Including mention of the letter. Those articles are all that is needed should reference to this incident be needed. I don't see the purpose of having the letter be archived. The letter simply indicated that some thought he should resign from his position because of the severity of the allegations. I don't agree with that and likewise I certainly wouldn't have signed, but I wouldn't necessarily g…

I sincerely hope this is fake. How can someone be that daft. Excluding prejudice toward white people from the term racist is racist. Excluding prejudice toward men from the term sexist is sexist. I don't think that article says what you think it does. Unless by correct you mean apologize for being harsh. They still pointed out that some MRA are dangerous and hateful. Mainly what happened was that they included rad fem groups too. The closing paragraph says it all really on media coverage for MRA. Like I've said several times ITT if MRA wants to be taken seriously it should stop fem bashing and focus on positive actions. Nobody wants to side with the aggressor.

Note: I'm rolling mobile and accidentally put this reply as a comment. I guess I disagree with you on the role of Feminism. To me it's more of an ideology more than a political powerhouse. You seem to look at it as an NRA type organization that has tons of lobbyist and money to throw around. I agree that they are currently more powerful than MRA, but I don't think they have the pull you believe them to have. Profoundly dishonest? Did I lie or misrepresent something you said? Also, appeal to authority is saying someone is right because they're in am authority role. What I said was that people with louder voices than me are calling MRA a hate group. You can voice your disagreement with them, but it's a moot point. OP asked if MRM should be less targeting of feminism and more targeting of legislators. To which I gave my opinion. No facts present. You then defended targeting feminist (again no facts) which in turn implies that you're not for political change. My point is that if you choose to be a group whose main focus is to argue against feminism rather than make a larger social difference then you very much deserve the title of "hate group" that many people who aren't feminist are labeling MRM Your disag…

This is what I'm talking about. Your main goal isn't promoting MRM. It's belittling Feminism, with a secondary objective of MRM looking better because you made Feminism look worse. This tactic childish and ineffective. What you're doing is no better than the mudslinging we see Democrats and Republicans doing. In fact it might be worse, because as it appears Feminism, being MRM's anti- as most of you believe, is taking the high road and doing there own thing while you lot spend most of your time …

Asking if someone has a condom or even telling them "I want you to fuck me." Doesn't mean diddly shit if he/she decides 20 seconds later they don't want to. Even if someone was having sex and said "Stop!" every sexual advance after that is rape. I'm not sure if you here don't understand that or if you think that once consent is given it can't be taken away. That article does not even contain the word "feminism". I could just as easily blame MRM for OJ getting off. The MRA is fully justified in existing when the narrative spread by feminists over generations was built on a bed of lies and males end up dealing with the consequences of bad policy built on those assumptions. Two parts: 1) What are these policies? 2) If I'm reading what you wrote correctly the only reason MRA exists is to combat Feminism? Do you honestly think feminism is to blame for A…

That makes way more sense now. I was like come on dude really? I read the second article. I get what the author is saying, but she neglects to cover emotional power and verbal disputes. Sure, most men being larger than most women aren't in as much danger as visa versa, but there's a much more important emotional attack that inherently goes along with any dispute. This angle on FoM male attacks is virtually never discussed especially when the man is physically bigger, and that's fucked IMO.

Have you been on /r/feminism? Or any feminist site (not tumblr)? There is no excusing women from shit behavior. In fact there was a video about a male rape victim that did very well in that sub and tanked here. Wouldn't you agree that it would be far more easy to tackle individual issues rather than the movement as a whole. Feminism can and has done good things. They also may do (and have done) bad things. I think it would be far more beneficial for MRM to jump when things go too far rather than painting a black and white scenario. In doing so whenever Feminism does good (like the video I posted succeeding) it makes MRM look like a bunch of pricks for being so critical all the time. Why don't we just s…

I have been trying to say this for awhile and I think you addressed it from the right angle. There are asshole feminist, and as we all know there are asshole MRA members. Clearly they are just fighting for "equality", which makes you wonder why they act so damn hateful and bitter whenever a mens rights issues (of which, there are many) is so much as discussed. That's a pretty slippery slope. I guess I misunderstood. You're not calling him a liar you would just like him to lie/alter the truth a little about what happened to him to make sure that men aren't being blamed for something. I guess my problem is I don't see a lot of r/feminism blaming men, but I do hear a lot of people from this sub damning feminism. That's because he'd be shunned for going outside of that narrative. It's unheard of to say women bullied and harassed you about being a victim of female-on-male rape. Following your narrative, it's acceptable to admit to being raped by a woman, but it's unacceptable to say that women bullied you? Just think about it. the primary concern of an MRA has to be the fairness to men. Women will make sure that they are treated fairly, but if men like you spend all of your time worrying about that, then men will not be treated fairly. Everything in our society points to that. This is exactly why I feel like I need to hang around MRA. If we continue to treat this like two separate issues we're going to get nowhere. Thanks for the acknowledgement. I can see this sub being a troll target, but I also think there's a significant population within the sub that is very anti-woman and masks their belief as egalitarianism. I don't like the term because it implies that there are cases where rape occurs and it's alright. That's not ever the case. If it happens it's always wrong.

Perfect example. A "Political Activist" could be a democrat or a republican. Two completely different ideologies. Both considered Political Activists. The name only applies loosely to the ideas being represented by the individual or group within the group.

Actions like this are not only terrible for men, but they also belittle legitimate rape cases (I hate the term "legitimate rape" but in this instance I'm referring to rape that actually occurred). Every false report rings in the mind of people and casts shadows of doubt upon cases of rape that actually occurred.

If we're talking etymology of words. Men's Rights exists now largely because of feminism. If the word feminism isn't old enough to have a set definition then I don't see how can say Men's Rights does. Separately those words have their own meaning agreed, together is a different story.

The words "men" and "rights" have a set definitions. But when combing them to describe a group it takes on another meaning. For instance (Nerdy Harry Potter reference) The Order of the Phoenix. "Order" and "Phoenix" mean specific things, but the group is a self ascribed ideology. So too is Feminism and Mens Rights. By rape apologists I'm referring to people that justify and deny rape.

There's a pitfall here and I don't see an easy fix. Without a global definition of what a term means you include any attribute as a group's belief. Obviously the same can be said about MRM. Without a set definition of what the group is it could easily be dismissed as a bunch of rape apologists. I know that not to be true, but I have also seen first hand rape apologists saying they represent MRM.

Gotcha, no need for swift replies. My feelings are close to the same. Other than that I feel like the roles are not equal enough in Western culture, but I do feel that the ground work is laid. Meaning that equal opportunity and equal chances are given to both sexes; however, as a society we don't encourage equal roles yet (somethin…

I don't recall saying either were sexist. I apologized for using the term shitty, but never said the "women's prison rights" groups were better than men's. If you look up the definition of feminism it is centered on equality for women. I don't understand what's offensive about this. The "fem" part of the word may offend some, but it's not an exclusive club. A fact the sign reaffirms by welcoming all genders.

A bit off from marriage, but I'll accept anyway. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Violence_Against_Women_Act This act provides provisions a woman has when facing violence. It does not strip men of any rights or give additional rights to women that would are applicable to men. Ie men don't have a pregnancy from rape clause because they can't get pregnant. On a side note. Has there ever been a case where a man was raped and the woman was impregnated? Because that may need some legislation.

I'll be upfront with you. I have no intention of looking into all of those. However, unless one of these organizations is attempting oppress men I don't think they're sexist. If indeed there are more groups that help women than men all that says to me is that women's rights groups are more active than men's rights groups. I would think more highly of these groups if they aimed to help all incarcerated persons. Which is the same way I feel about this mens prison group. I was incorrect to say that…

Fair enough. My mistake. But even in this context. The claim was that marriage is sexist against men. I proposed that women are expected to change their name to which you countered with men are expected to propose. That's one count toward each sex which would mean that marriage doesn't prefer one sex over the other. Which makes it not sexist.
/r/MensRights09/01/14 05:23 PM

I asked for something legally unfair to men. Perhaps I'm confusing you with another commentor, but we've established that women have a choice not to change their name and men certainly have a choice not to spend money or beg for a hand in marriage. Goal Post: A law that favors men or women pertaining to marriage thus proving marriage to be a sexist institution. Ps. This argument can also be used against feminist making the same claim about women.

I agree that divorce rulings are often in favor of women, but from a legal stand point I don't think many laws favor women over men (excluding nursing children on custody cases etc...). Judges often rule in favor of women and without studying specific cases its difficult to determine if those rulings where indeed sexist or if the men were really at fault.
/r/MensRights09/01/14 05:42 AM

In the grand scheme of things is spending a few thousand dollars and begging worse than be asked to change your identity? I know several people who have spent tens of thousands of dollars and begged for a diploma. IMO some money and the risk of potential embarrassment isn't that big of a sacrifice. But hey to you maybe that's more important than your heritage.

Following your religious example: This would be like telling someone they have a choice to tell "Muhammad to suck a cock" or not, but not doing so is highly frowned upon. My complete stance on the name issue can be found below. Essentially the name isn't that big of a deal because there is a choice. Society is at fault for pressuring the decision, but legally speaking marriage is not a sexist institution. Especially not against men. Societal norms expect far more forfeiture from a woman.

It's in a child's best interest to be with their mother while nursing. Proof: men can't breast feed. This one example is only in cases where a child is involved which is a custody issue not a marriage issue. When a married couple divorces assets are split 50/50 and if both partners make about the same salary no alimony is due. In the case where one partner makes more than the other the individual with the higher salary will pay alimony. That individual can be man or woman. Again, neither of thes…

It isn't required, but it is expected. (Better response in original reply). A names value may vary from person to person. Some may see it as nothing while others may hold it as a reminder of who their family is. Where their allegiance lies. To some people that is the most important thing in the world.

To get married is a choice. Both people willingly participate in it. It is a widely accepted norm for a woman to take a mans name, but vise versa is taboo. You act as though men get married and then woman own the men. There is nothing legally applied to marriage that takes more away from a man than it does a woman. If there is a law somewhere that applies to men and not women I would love to see it.

Perhaps I misspoke with using the word "exclude." I don't think it's sexist to not include one sex. If I did I would think gendered bathrooms were sexist. It is sexist to say that it's wrong for women to be treated this way, but right for men to be treated the exact same way. Still though I agree with you that Bangkok Rules is at flawed.
