3	Wanting Solo Travel and RV I grew up going camping all the time with my family and with Boy Scouts. I always joked my ex idea of camping was staying in a hotel without room service. Now that I’m free, I plan to go do a bunch of tent camping this summer. So many amazing state and national parks within reasonable driving distance for me now. 2	The yada yada yada law of divorce My ex called me up when the microwave at the house broke. The divorce was she keeps the house and pays for it and any maintenance under $500 till my daughter is out of school and it's sold. She was like we need to get a new one and I was like, well get one she's like I don't have the money for it. 3	My wife came home from work today and asked for a divorce As someone else mentioned, this is financial abuse by your wife. If she is now gaslighting you into saying you knew all along, don't fall for it. You need to use the grey rock method on her when talking about financial stuff(google it). You must not react or fight with her about finances and what she did or didn't do. Just give her simple yes/no/maybe answers. Do not feed in to her drama. 1	How long have you guys stayed single? Separated in 2022 and divorced. I haven’t dated. I looked but honestly i don’t wanna date someone with kids that need to be raised still. And that seems to be my only option. My daughter is grown so no need for my partners to raise my kid. At this point I probably qualify for monk status. 1	Lonely My therapist told me (49m) something that stuck with me. She said that life for men who get divorced generally gets much worse. Life for women for who get divorced is generally an improvement. So when men like you and I are the ones who push for divorce it is usually very bad situation. 1	Word of encouragement I was married 20 years. We had a long separation where we tried to work it out but it was a lost cause. I am lucky that by the time we divorced, our daughter was 18. When I am in a rough patch, I eat some edibles and watch YouTube survival videos and just vibe. I totally get where you are coming from. 2	What are some unique, less-common ways that have helped your healing? First step I did was move cross-country literally as far away from my old life as possible. I am fortunate that I could take my job remote and now I work from home all the time and I love that my commute is from bed to desk. I went from Boston to LA. I work east coast hours and so I work 5:30 am - 1:30 PM and I literally have my afternoons free now. I live a simple life here. 2	I'm allowed to use refried beans again As someone who is half Mexican, I feel this so much. She did not like refried beans either and just wouldn't buy them if she went shopping. She also hated peppers of any kind. So the first thing i did was buy peppers and start cooking with them again. 3	Do woman give back rings after filing for divorce? Mine didnt but I dont want it back. I left that behind. But you reminded me of something I totally forgot. When my mom died my dad gave each of his sons one of my moms wedding rings. My wife got the engagement ring and my brothers wife got the wedding band.
