I can see where the resentment is coming from, but I'm with Sunscreens regarding your attitude. Yes, teenage girls can be difficult, especially as a single father, but they're your kids. This was your chance to become a big part of their lives and help shape their future.

Sometimes after facing imminent death and surviving unscathed, life can suddenly seem jokeworthy.

Yea, so I threw in the thought to simply stand by the child and make sure s/he's safe while a friend fetches security, or someone who wouldn't find themselves accused of being a child abductor.

Or perhaps to notify store personnel, maybe bring the child up to customer service (or the equivalent) and have them make a store-wide announcement. Or if traveling in a group, simply stand by the child while a friend goes to fetch aforementioned personnel. I'm not trying to imply that Edwin was in the wrong or that one should not try to help a lost child, but with how parents tend to over-react nowadays, it's better to make sure your bases are as covered as they can be.

No kids, but I tend to hold things in. Both my ex-girlfriends have commented that they have trouble reading me since my outward emotions tend to hover between annoyed-neutral-content regardless of whether they have jubilant or terrible news. It's come to the point where I have difficulty determining how I feel about most situations that involve people I know on a personal level.

Interestingly, one of my female Chinese friends who was born in China has stated that she can't help but see men as accessories. Her circumstances are a bit... atypical of Asian families though. Her mother basically encourages the objectifying of men since her (the mother's) first husband was verbally and physically abusive and eventually skipped out. She's since remarried to a non-Asian man and the second husband is just a good looking accessory she shows off to her friends.

Are you only saying that because of boobs? She's not ugly or necessarily unattractive, but if we crossed paths on the street I wouldn't give her a second look or even think much of her at first glance. Well, unless she was showing her boobs, but that's only because boobs are like fucking eye magnets.

Holy shit. Thank you for sharing. I haven't shopped at a Wegmans since college, but this definitely puts some doubts towards the conditions behind eggs produced by other brands.

Sounds like the biggest problems were the website's notice about how the store is an equal opportunity employer and how the employee at the store itself told the man to not bother applying. It would not have been too difficult to apply some tact and say something like, "We apologize sir, but the only positions open right now are fittings. However, you're welcomed to submit an application for when <some other kinds of positions> opens up." If however, that's not the case then the site needs to ch…
