You know I wonder if the Jack in the Box people were trying to make a statement in addition to advertise their burgers. And not a pro-feminist statement.

I too studied something where I was one of three women in a group of about a hundred guys. And while I was a student, I didn't own or wear many dresses at all either; I stuck with t-shirts and jeans. One major reason for this was that I could not really afford nicer clothes or dresses. I probably could have if I had looked around for bargains better, but I preferred t-shirts because I didn't know better. While most girls around me had solid or striped t-shirts, I had a lot of novelty shirts with…

It's really amazing how almost everyone in the thread of that comment is justifying their hatred of her. They're trying so hard to paint her as some disturbed, narcissistic individual rather than admit they are jealous.

Yeah, once I was dating a guy who did not obviously seem feminist at first. Then one day he went on this rant, "You're so lucky to be a woman. Women are more evolved and are in every way superior to men. Someday soon, you won't even need us men." He wasn't even being sarcastic or pathetic about it. He was stating what he believed to be facts and was happy to place all women on a pedestal. I couldn't believe it when I heard it. I asked him repeatedly if he was joking. Needless to say, I completel…

I didn't say it's only hard to be a programmer if you're female. Of course it's hard to be a programmer period, because the tech world changes so fast. That's why people end up specializing, because it's just too hard to generalize. What I meant is that there are extra annoyances that you have to deal with as a woman. As an example, I once worked with a guy who would speak in a normal tone to everyone else and would scream, literally scream, every word he said to me. All of the other guys though…

You're really about as immature as they come, aren't you? I wonder where all the hordes of guys were to help me with my homework all these years, because I had to struggle though everything alone. Oh, that's right... How could I forget? The hordes of guys were helping each other with their homework and refusing to speak to me and the other female students. I have NEVER had a horde of guys helping me do anything. At least this means I know that I got through my degrees on my own. The guys from my…

Yes, I have heard of that expression. I am not sure if you are just trying to explain it or defend it. In either case, I don't think it's okay that the phenomenon happens. It's total immaturity. I don't show up on StackOverflow going, "I'm a girl and I have a programming problem, wah wah. Help me! Look at me!" And it's not like I had a unicorn avatar, I just had a Pokemon that guys probably wouldn't chose as their favorite. (Not something pink like Jigglypuff, just more cute than ugly.) But anyw…

Sigh. She does indeed sound like a nutcase when she proclaims there is zero wrong with her. Having said that, it's totally not okay for guys to tell her she is too pretty to be taken seriously. As you pointed out, it wouldn't be okay to say this to a guy either. I don't know if I believe your assumption that she got there through affirmative action. After all, she said she used a gender neutral name and received decent feedback for her freelance work. I'm not trying to white knife her (I'm a gir…

I go natural all of the time. I try to keep them short but sometimes I forget for a few weeks and they can get to be like 5mm or so long. I kind of like the way they look longer, but it's easier to keep them clean when they are short.

Wow. You just went and assumed a whole bunch of stuff about the situation that is completely untrue. As OP clarified, he is a dude, so all your criticisms don't really apply. I think you missed the point here. This is a concerned kid reaching out for help. His dad used to not have destructive behaviors but started to. I can imagine the home situation has become very toxic because of it. We cannot know whether this is the mother's fault or not. And why should this kid (and his mother) want to sit…

This is a familiar story to me... When I was in college, there was a guy who I was instantly enamored with. He was both more attractive and more intelligent than anyone I had ever met. He was friendly, funny, dressed well, and shared some hobbies with me. He was perfect. I tried in very stupid ways to get his attention, partially because I was hoping he would approach me and partially because I was too afraid to approach him directly in a romantic way. I'd strike up conversations with him before…

Sorry, I was never trying to imply that she should get a new wardrobe... What I meant is that if she is college aged then he should probably realize money is tight and she cannot afford a new wardrobe. So he is being unreasonable, for that reason and for others.

O.O You're kind of right but mostly wrong. No boyfriend made me this way. My parents made me this way, through example. You cannot just take some party girl and inspire her to be submissive through your leadership. You have to find a girl who was raised properly or discovered the red pill on her own.

It depends... I mean if the guy is expecting her to dress like she is going to the club or the prom all of the time, then he is simply being unreasonable and he deserves to get the boot. If she wears drab colors and shapeless outfits, then maybe he was trying to do her a favor. Perhaps he can see underneath all of that she is quite pretty and other outfits could flatter her better. But another thing I have to wonder is, can she afford to change her wardrobe? For example, if she is a college stud…

I've done electrolysis and it's something you have to keep up with before the hair is gone permanently. Like the first year, you made need to go once a month or once a week depending on how bad the problem is. After that, you may need to only return once every few months to zap away any stranglers. I wouldn't epilate as it damages the skin over time and promotes the growth of ingrowns, which can be painful.

I'm sorry to be seeing this post so late. I hope you're still paying attention this because I really need to tell you that tweezing/plucking/waxing/epilating is the worst thing you could do for yourself. Plucking can damage the skin and the hair follicle, which can promote the growth of ingrown hairs, which are painful and unsightly. When you pluck, it distorts the shape of the follicle, often permanently, which can cause the hair to grow inward rather than outward. I've also heard that plucking…

I am really anti-cohabitation before marriage. The idea of giving each other a "test run" or a "trial run" shows a lack of commitment to the person. It's a person, not a car, that we are talking about. If you really want to make it work with the person, then learning to deal with their quirks and habits after you have gotten married shouldn't be a problem. If you're living together before marriage, then you can bail at any moment for any reason, rather than learning how to communicate and compro…

Has it occurred to you that perhaps you are not encountering men that you are truly interested in and that's why you don't know how to flirt? I cannot consciously flirt even if I try, but when I find myself in the presence of a guy I am truly attracted to, then I cannot help but blush, smile, giggle, and say complimentary things to him. I'm saying this because I don't want you to feel like you ~have~ to date anyone just to get experience or get "firsts" over with. Also, I don't want you to feel …

I can't say for certain since we don't know everything about the relationship, but I wouldn't leave him because he has been willing to be with you despite the lack of physical attraction. Lose the weight for yourself. I don't know what to say about your second question. In my opinion, you've "given it up" a lot earlier than I would ever recommend. You're right. Some friends will try to make you feel uncomfortable. "Oh, um... That's pretty weird you don't live with your boyfriend." Others will try to argue. "Are you sure you made the right decision? I mean, I kind of used to want that too, but it's unrealistic! Besides, you're young!" They want you to conduct yourself the same way as them because then they will feel better about their own bad decisions. It's just a coincidence but a freaky one lol. I wasn't looking for preferential treatment or trying to kiss ass. I saw guys saying things like, "I did this for my wife..." Yeah, whenever people find out I don't live with my boyfriend or that he sleeps on the futon when he visits, I get so many raised eyebrows and awkward responses like, "Okay...???" This is good advice! On our third date, my boyfriend invited me over to cook. We made his own version of orange beef, miso soup, and a salad. He gave me instructions to chop stuff while he was busy taking on the more complicated stuff like mixing his own sauces from scratch. She (I think the author is a she?) is expecting the students to have a response, perhaps even a painful one. But her students become scared at the potential of facing something disturbing and want to end the discussion. She is also arguing that they are confusing the representation of a traumatic event with the traumatic event itself when they are nowhere near equivalent. …

I'm curious to hear answers on this, as I have the same thing going on in my relationship. The only difference is my boyfriend is pretty alpha in all other aspects. I am very submissive too, but he will hand the decision making power back to me when I tell him I want him to have it.

Of course, I realize I am no snowflake. And I don't think I am that rare either. My feeling is that a lot of these guys surround themselves with drama loving girls so to them all women are these ways. But my sisters and nearly every woman I have befriended doesn't make drama and acts reasonably.

From the sounds of it, you would be! I am selfishly happy too when I am in the student role because then the competition is eliminated. As a TA, I wanted all of my students to succeed and I didn't feel like I was competing with them. Yes, don't be worried at all because it does work in our favor that we are competent females. Honestly, I can only think of two female students who didn't fit that pattern. This is out of maybe 150 students total of which 15-20% were female (ballparking here, I could be way off). One of those students was the strongest out of all of the students - male or female - so she kind of made up for the crappy ones by being really awesome. I used to wear sneakers all of the time, because I can't do heels or flats without my feet hurting. As I started wearing more dresses, I started to buy more Clark's shoes. It doesn't bother me, not only because I know it's not about me, but because it's pointing out precisely what annoys me about men in my society. Exactly. I, as woman, read something on the redpill and I think, "Yes, this describes the problems I've observed with my female peers in a brilliant way." But if I try to say it doesn't apply to me, will I be accused of thinking I'm a snowflake? You're right; I wasn't trying to say that asking questions is a bad thing. In fact, it can save a whole lot of time. Both male and female students do ask for help, but in a different manner and with a different frequency... When I was a teaching assistant, I noticed male students would raise their hands and start off with something like, "Okay, so I know I need to to X. I've tried Y and Z but I couldn't get it to work! There is some truth to not looking desperate too early and I wouldn't say that the red pill recommends women immediately open up to and obey brand new boyfriends. Obviously women shouldn't date anyone else or do anything that would evoke jealousy, but they should it slow in all aspects of the relationship with him, including how submissive you are and how open you are emotionally. At the same time, women shouldn't half ass anything they do or go out of their way to contradict their new boyfriend…

You might be right; some women might stop looking good after a point. For some, it might be because it just doesn't suit their face or body. For others, it might be because they don't maintain their hair well. I have definitely seen some really gross, damaged butt-length hair in my time. I'd like to hear some men weigh in on this!

I don't really buy into the idea too much, but I consider myself to be very RP. Obviously, men have different/stronger sex drives, but I don't think that means that men (or all men anyway) want to spread their seed all over. I believe it's possible for a man to only want the intimacy of a marriage/LTR and be RP. Is this question the only thing that's preventing you from swallowing TRP?

Same! If I skip tending to my hair for a day or unexpectedly end up in a windy place without a hairtie, then it is a disaster. My mother doesn't have curly hair so she never knew to teach me how to take care of mine, so I had to figure a lot of stuff out the hard way. Yes, I am with you that for curly haired folks you should only brush when wet. My hair doesn't have tight curls but it is has some loose curls. It's pretty wavy and very frizzy. If I brush it dry, the brush adds sooooo much static that it's really unbelievable! And then don't touch it. Yes, this is something I've got to do! The diet is a good point. I eat pretty well, e.g. no fast food, no junk food, lots of homemade things. Hairdressers tell me my hair is very healthy and soft, so I think my tangling issues come from how I care for it. I did the baking soda and vinegar thing for a while. I kept smelling like vinegar so I actually cut that out and did just the baking soda. I loved how light and clean my hair felt, but it was super duper tangly. My current shampoo makes me feel as clean as the baking soda did, with …

I've never dyed and haven't straightened or used a dryer in years. Everyone has told me not to brush it when wet. So for several months I combed it instead of brushing it. It took forever to do! I probably should go back to that though. Someone else once recommended I don't brush or comb at all! So I tried just using my fingers but it looked very crappy. When my hair dries, it wants to keep the same shape.

Make your own dressing from two parts olive oil and one part lemon juice with some sea salt and freshly ground pepper. If you want to get creative you can add honey, mustard, dill, or other (preferably fresh) spices to the mix. I like to use this dressing on chunks of avocado, tomato, and cucumber. It's nice to have a lettuce free salad some times. If you add some feta to the mix it becomes heavenly. A favorite of mine is slices of roasted beets with goat cheese and caramelized onions on an asso…

Modcloth dresses, specifically the Too Much Fun dresses. The brand is actually Emily and Fin and they call it the Lucy dress. I may have five of them. But they are the perfect combination of femininity and modesty without being matronly. I stalk them forever until they go on sale. Edit: not so secret because I wear them but it is secret that they are unnecessarily expensive.

Funny you mention this. I am a major introvert. BUT lately I notice myself talking my boyfriend's ear off. He doesn't seem annoyed but I'm trying to curb it before it becomes so. Also I am a bit rambling on reddit lol.

I think you're right here. Obviously we want men that find us good looking but we don't want the attraction to be just skin deep. Anytime a guy has ever asked me out without knowing much more than my name (this happened a lot in high school), I would turn him down. I'm not saying the guy has to spend days or weeks getting to know me, but I want him to be attracted to a bit more than just looks because those will fade some day. Not saying I will let myself go when I'm married, far from it, but wh…

Yup. That's the same thing that I experience, warmness and everything! It's very uncomfortable and it is blotchy on both my neck and chest. I wear a lot of high necked shirts and fashionable scarves as a result to hide it. Sometimes I get rude comments or questions about it but I have learned to ignore them. Just like you, all it takes is a smile from a guy a like and I turn so red. It was a huge inhibitor for me until I saw a therapist. He helped me to realize most men don't care or even find i…

Don't do anything you are uncomfortable with. In my opinion, you really don't need to touch your date. Talking, smiling, laughing, and being coy are enough. Let him initiate touching you and don't go out of your way to brush elbows or something.

Let me see if I am understanding you. Consider this scenario... I have some opinion about something that I genuinely believe to be true, but I am misinformed so I am unintentionally wrong. So my boyfriend realizes I am wrong, tells me, and I acknowledge with the new information from him that I was wrong. Now, I can be appreciative of the fact that he was considerate enough to enlighten me. But you're actually telling me that I would be happy that I was wrong? Being wrong is embarrassing, it's no…

If I'm trying to flirt, I try to be an engaged listener instead of talking about myself. So if he mentions a hobby or shared interest, I will mention I like it but then try to direct it back to him immediately, such as saying, "When did you get into that?" Only elaborate about yourself if he asks you. Smile with your eyes as he talks and say things like "Oh!" and "Wow!" to let him know you're really paying attention. I generally try to laugh whenever it's appropriate and cover my mouth with my h…

I typed stuff I didn't understand in the beginning and I never felt my learning was hampered. Eventually we learned enough that they could explain "public static void main". I think this is a stupid example of why Python is superior for beginners. Python is pretty loose about types, it has no constants, concept of public vs private, etc. Kids can learn a bunch of Python and think they are master programmers and then they have to learn that most other languages require a lot more of them.

Yeah, I am getting my masters now and I can see that the "youngsters" have much less expected of them compared to when I was an undergrad. Every time I hear of a school switching from C or Java to Python, I want to cry a little. You're right, it is hard/impossible to fake code writing. But unfortunately I have seen a lot of pathetic female programmers who survive only because they get others to do the work for them (either getting a beta to do their work or repeatedly visiting the office of the …

Female in computer science here. Nothing really constructive to say except that stuff like this pisses me off on an extremely personal level. I have worked so hard to gain the respect of my male peers, only for other women in the software industry to do embarrassing crap like this. Whenever a story of something like "school gets more girls into computer science" circulates, everyone wants my opinion about it and assumes that I am going to be a huge fan. But it's usually something stupid like, "W…

I understand that there are situations where some lone person following you could actually be a mugger. But it doesn't mean every person walking twenty feet behind me is a mugger. Like, I wouldn't expect anyone to alter his path so he wouldn't be behind us for thirty seconds. I didn't mention this but afterward my friend admitted she recognized the guy from around campus and had always thought he was creepy, but without providing any evidence because she didn't know him. As a woman who actually was stalked by a seriously messed up guy during high school, creep is a word I do not use lightly. When I was an undergraduate, I began to notice that girls used the word creep frequently and often without reason, even to describe guys they had never even met. Other times, I heard my friends use it to guys who they had crushes on the day before but had rejected them. I'll never forget how one night a female friend and I were walking from a pizza place near campus around m…

My guess would be that she is not happy with her boyfriend but does not want to dump him unless she is sure she has a backup plan. She is hoping you are that backup plan. By talking about her life and her boyfriend, she is probably trying to judge how interested in her you are in her still by seeing if she can hear jealousy in your voice. You did the right thing. Go a step further by unfriending and blocking her on social networks if you haven't already done so. Totally eliminate her ability to …

Thanks for taking the time to read what I've written and actually writing something for me. I don't have enough karma to post anything on TRP or RPW even though I have a lot of questions. Speaking as woman, I would not recommend you do this. Women can be vicious and it is inevitable that there will be arguments, sides will be drawn, and they will make it very difficult for you to remain neutral. Right now, my boyfriend lives with two female roommates (I don't live with them). He is only barely outnumbered but I think he would not recommend doing this. His roommates are helpless slobs. That sounds right to me. At the time, we had a super long discussion about what is or isn't appropriate behavior. I was arguing that I should never even communicate with any of my exes. He was arguing that I could do anything and if he felt jealous then he was at fault. Since it turned into such a big deal, he made me feel like I had to visit with my ex so he wouldn't feel like a jealous jerk. And so even though I didn't want to see my ex, I did. Later on, I found out his first girlfriend had ma…

It might be the politicians' fault... Usually they either add something to their campaign because the voters have been babbling about it OR they add it because hardly anyone is talking about it and they are trying to distract from other issues... In either case, when they keep repeating some erroneous fact like "77c to the dollar," then they either know the fact is wrong and don't care OR they don't know the fact is wrong because they have not done the proper research. Which is worse? Do you pre…

My boyfriend does not want to set boundaries, even though I actually wish he would. Is this weird? As an example, I think it's highly inappropriate to for me (or any woman) to see ex-boyfriends. I know I have no lingering feelings for the ex-boyfriends (far from it), but it just seems like the most respectful way to conduct myself. About six months into us dating (we have been together for 2+ years now), my ex-boyfriend contacted me to say he would be in my area and wanted to know if I wanted to…

Yes, to this. My guess is that a lot of us RPW strive to be the best we can, even if it's in academia or the workplace. However, the difference between us and feminists is that we gladly dial back that competitive nature down when we find a guy who is worth it and channel it toward the wife/girlfriend role.

I don't think you're being horrible. It is possible he is just friendly and you're misreading it, but that doesn't really matter. Just continue to nod, say a quick hello, and move on. I wouldn't escalate it further even to try to mention your SO. I would keep doing what you're doing unless you find yourself in a place with him where conversation is unavoidable, like if your mutual friend throws a party and both you and smiley guy are there. If he corners you into a conversation, then bring up yo…

I agree with you completely. If she is too nice, then he could easily misinterpret it. I wanted to mention that she probably should also not completely ignore him. This provokes some men. They can start following and saying things like, "Hey, I just said hi to you." Also, since she's set a precedent of nodding and saying hey, sudden silence might confuse him and intrigue his interest. On another note, I am weary of the "he's a stranger, so who cares if you are a bitch" attitude. The world is sma…

This is all good advice; thanks for sharing. Don’t ever neglect him or give him less attention when you’re talking to another guy, especially one who your guy perceives as a threat. This. I never ever try to do this one intentionally, but sometimes I am worried that I do this. Most of the men on TRP speak in a way that I find somewhat repulsive, so I would never think of dating them if I was single. However, the men on TRP hold views which are appealing; they are not afraid to be masculine, they strive to be leaders, and they are trying to be the best versions of themselves. They're trying to be the best they can at their jobs, they're working on having healthy bodies and good posture, they dress themselves well. They are not afraid to be different. These are qualitie…

I'm petite too, so I know your struggles. I looked at Macy's for hours once and was disappointed by how limited their petites selection is. Anything that fit me looked like a military uniform or something else weird. Then I went to H&M and they had a bunch of nice skirt suits. I found a nice one in a dusty pink color. That must not sound very good or professional, but trust me, it's not an in your face shade of pink and it has no embellishments, so it's actually quite professional and feminine a…

You aren't a failure! You're young and you have a clean slate. Many would be envious of you. As someone already said, some men want "weird-looking" women. There are many men who find shy and perhaps even awkward to be cute and endearing. However, your unhappy attitude may actually be a problem; that's something I would try to work on if I were you. A good place to start might be trying to change how awkward and shy you feel by trying something that's outside of your boundary zone. Try to find a …
