I thought it was a pretty polite way of asking for the perspective of the opposite gender. As a chick one of my good (shy) guy friends will frequently ask for my opinion before he makes a move. I have to give him the warning that whatever I tell him will be my personal response and experience, but it makes him feel better. Sometimes guys and girls see things differently. Their responses on the other hand seem catty and over sensitive.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
