Most people I know from high school that stayed in the area continue to date in the same pool of people from high school. Those that went on to college went on to only date friends they made in college. It’s a thing most people who aren’t from the area can’t even comprehend when I explain it to them. In Seattle the dating pool was exactly what you described. In Knoxville it’s like shooting fish in a barrel. Never in my life did I think I’d be doing tinder hookups but here I am. The people here have the opposite of the “seattle freeze” and usually just going to sit at a bar by myself I end the evening having made 5 new friends. There’s hope out there yet.
