I’m no psychologist, but I think that some people might have multiple relationships where they get cheated on because of the type of people they date. It’s why FDS requires strong vetting: to keep the cheaters away at all costs. I know that we don’t choose cheaters on purpose. Who would consciously do that? Sex and the City literally revolves around the following: Carrie is intrigued by Big's charm/mysteriousness --> she tries to get his attention/affection --> he can't meet her standards/actively chooses not to meet them --> she gets upset, yet doesn't follow her friends' advice to leave --> she gives him the benefit of the doubt --> rinse and repeat.
