I meant that it's not the womens right to vote that lead to those laws and the law doesn't justify removing the right to vote from half of the citizens. But I agree that the law needs to be updated.

Yes, I agree that it should be updated then. However, i don't think it should be held that against the womens right to vote, when the laws are at least to 50% made by men.

There is no difference between genders when it comes to conscription in my country. Why should there? I feel like that's an old concept. I think it is important though that everyone has the right to choose some alternative service if they don't want to join the military.

It sounded like it to me, but maybe I misunderstood. That's why I'm asking.

Are you saying women should not be allowed to vote??

I feel like this is an area that should not be further explored, no matter which way around. Human should not be able to make humans in the lab without two actual biological parents. I think that could be misused in horrific ways and would require a lot of experiments with very questionable ethics.

You are totally right that it is difficult to measure. And it sounds like you have found a good agreement with your wife. However, in general, i would especially count the time that one partner stays full-time at home to take care of children (if that's the case). I think that are the hours that the other partner can put into career.

Sorry if that was unclear. I understand it as the risk estimates compared to the reference group age 25-29. So 1.4 is like a increased risk by 1.4. So 2 would mean the risk is doubled. That's at least how I would understand it. The risk of miscarriage in pregnancies in general is estimated to 10-20%.

Well, if two partners agree that one partner stays home, for example, to take care of children, that partner has most likely a life-long disadvatage regarding career and salary. In most cases, i would argue that staying home with a child is a full-time job. That's what I meant with unpaid work...

If it is a joint decision that one partner stays home, should it not be clear that the other partner has to support financially? Or are you saying the stay at home parent is then just forced to stay in the relationship?

I think it should only depend on who did more unpaid work in the relationship.

Well, in my opinion, alimony makes sense if one partner put their career at hold (for household and child care), enabling the other partner to pursue their career. Should there not be compensation for that? Of course, that should be based on circumstances and not based on gender. Child support is for the child. As long as there is no rape and no manipulation of contraceptives, both parents are also financially responsible for the baby in my opinion. Laws need to be refined, but I would say in ge…

There is also an increased risk of miscarriages with increased paternal age.

Nobody forces you to be in a relationship. It isn't wrong or right to get married or not. It's about making a good decision for yourself depending on your life goals.

I'm not saying she is in the right. But he would have the option to stop it and let her file it.

It is a horrible and very sad topic. I am convinced that there needs to be much more awareness of mental health problems and much more support for new fathers and possibly laws should be adapted. However, men do not have the same exceptional physiological stress that can be connected to pregnancy and birth, such as postnatal psychosis. And that's why those laws were made. It still has consequences for the woman and it's individual cases that are evaluated. So in my opinion that's a bad example a…

Well, in this case, it's also his fault tbh. He made the choice to cheat on his wife and be dishonest... Of course, she should not blackmail him, and her behavior is also very questionable... However, it is child support after all and not woman support. The child does not have a choice and no responsibility in that situation. And it is the child that I'm most concerned about in the story.

I definitely agree that it is in most cases much better if the father is involved than a single mother household without a father (which the source shows). And it is very sad that so many children grow up without an involved father. It is also a complex question why so many fathers are absent and what could be done to improve it. However, there is no comparison of single mother vs single father stats in the article you referred to. If you have an original study that shows that I am happy to reco…

Sorry but that is not true... I agree though that two parents can in most cases give more support than a single parent. I think it is independent of gender. Could be two moms or two dads too.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
