I work 12 hour shifts most nights but it works out for me because I can do a normal weeks worth of hours inside of 4 nights instead of 5. I have a fair commute because I live in a rural area so it works out for me. A tank of petrol is enough for my whole weeks commuting working this way. Whenever I put a vehicle on the jack stands I always try to rock it a bit to see if its stable and its not going to fall off. I also use the conventional style stands where you put a pin through the hole instead of the other kind. I'm also lucky that I have access to garage with a pit that works out quite well for some jobs like oil changes or some repairs.

Shipping containers are a lot of work - honestly I think more conventional methods of construction might be just as easy in the long run. If you need some relatively short term living space and can squeeze into a single container I think its a winner but when you start joining multiple containers I think it would be easier to build a wooden or brick structure of equivalent size.

A few things to consider - if you are running on solar there is plenty of RV stuff out there that runs on either 12V or 24V. It's more efficient to run on DC power directly. You can get a lot of stuff designed to run on 12V or 12V power adapters for things.
