Professional ethics (healthcare or otherwise) are drilled into you during university. Flagrantly violating them is shocking to me. I don't believe in life after death so I don't care what happens to my body. But lots of people do care and it's really important that, for them, healthcare professionals aren't pulling this kind of shit.

Defaulting to "no abortion" isn't pro-life. Pro choicers don't want to abort either, but think that the option should be available (I.e. what you said basically). I disagree that you need father's consent though. The baby is a physical part of the woman, and it has a huge impact on her health, so if she wants to abort she should probably be able to. I think the more problematic situation is when the man does not want a baby, the woman does, and he's then strung along for child support.

No, it's because men owned land - first, democracy which required land gave them political power, then capitalism gave them the chance to profit from the land. Since women couldn't own land, they didn't have the same opportunity to acquire political power or grow wealth.
