Look into the servicemember's relief act, in 2002 (if I remember correctly), it was changed to include contractors. I seem to recall that there's a clause that states if you're supporting the military and stationed in a theatre of war, you cannot have a civil suit brought against you. There's also lots of little beneficial tax nuggets buried in the act that can help you in other ways.

Absolutely not out of line, you're simply protecting yourself and everything you've worked hard for so far in life. There's no reasonable reason why she should be entitled to half of that (or more) should she decide to walk. If you're offering to take care of any children you are part of but won't support her offspring and she's balking at that, I'd be deeply suspicious that she's looking for a sucker to foot the bill for life for her and her kid. Follow your heart but be weary and by god be car…

Don't forget there's additional fees they can push through. I got stuck with paying 80% of all medical expenses as well as 80% of all work related daycare. I've had a couple months where I got an additional $1000 or so in support i had to pay on top of the baseline.

You were manipulated into this and have no doubt that it was planned; but that doesn't mean anything in the eyes of the law. Support is all "for the well being of the child". I was hit with a similar situation a few years back and am stuck paying a little under 1/3 of my takehome. and based on the local laws I'm forced to send her my and my company's tax returns on a yearly basis to be scrutinized (Tried to fight this but all I got was an order to do so; failure gets me jail time for being in co…

Eh, sorry was venting. Just got my quarterly bill for 80% of all the kid's extra medical expenses and 80% of additional travel related daycare expenses (To the tune of $1800). But agreed, pushing equal rights is what's truly needed. I'm honestly saddened that there's another kid in the world that could have two adoptive parents that would love and cherish him but instead has a father with no interest in him and a mother using him for money.

I'm now 2 1/2 years into having a kid i still don't want with a hookup that thought she could get "Money, Love and a Family" (in her own words in that order) by sabotaging contraception. The courts have awarded her around 1/3 of my monthly takehome and don't care that it was manipulation (I have proof in the form of email/chat logs from her) in addition to a recorded phone conversation stating "If I know that was all I was going to get, I would have put him up for adoption." Option to sign away …

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
