“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” Samuel Clemens "Mark Twain". Nuff said.

It's actually not that complex. It's complex morally, but as far as society, it's very simple. Either both parties agree, or one of the parties agrees to carry it out and take on all reponsabilities, and liberate the other from their part. If that part is the man, he would have to have to convince the woman to carry to term, but that is about it.

The problem with all this is giving these people more than a second of attention.

I'm from the phone era, even before answering machines were widespread. I have found out that texting is flat, allows for little to no non-verbal communication, no nuances. While in person or even the phone, my brand of humor can be misinterpreted in texts, and has resulted in loss of dates. Calling allows you to include tone and nuances that can create rapport. Now, especially in the first contact I call. It does help that I'm older, and have a nice, sexy voice, from what I've been told.

I do know a couple of marriages that have lasted a long time, and where both partners clealy love and respect each other. They are the very tiny minority, though. True mutual respect is the key, and that, often, gets lost along the way, or has never been there, having projections in place.

My great-grandfather's last words were: "Gimme a cigarette and get the vulture out of this room", referring to the priest. I can only hope to have the balls and coherence the man had. Fuck repenting and embracing god to save his soul in the last minute.

Set-up a date, somewhere you can talk, since you know some of her interests, ask open-ended questions. Women love to talk about themselves and their interests. She'll do most of the talking, about her vital bubble, just go along and aprove, if anything touches your sphere of interests, play along. Let her look for validation. Worse come to worse, you'll have met an interesting person, and maybe learn something.

This is actually very good. It boils down to bringing efficiency into your life. Stop. Review. Discard. Enhance. It is one of those "step back to be able to see the forest that the tree didn't allow you to see"

"the risks associated with circumcisions when carried out by qualified and experienced doctors are small" Well, probably the risks of extirpating the ears, or clitoris by competent surgeons in a hospital are probably small too. It's a question of ritual mutilation of a non-consenting minor.

I think that we should start calling ritual or unnecessary circumcision "MGM" or "Male Genital Mutilation", and reserve circumcision for the medically necessary procedure. Calling all ritual genital cutting by a proper medical term gives it a mantle of respectability it doesn't deserve.

This happens in Africa with a lot of girls too. It's the mothers and grandmothers that push that onto them.

Maybe a lesser evil would be cam sites. At least these are real women, and more of a (quasi real) one on one situation. That way you eliminate most of the unreality of canned porn.

A critical thing is to do it without porn, and preferably fantasizing about a real woman you would like to have sex with. Keeps your libido, excitability, and drive real.

Dogs have been Man's (man, not human, not woman) companion for millenia. They are invaluable in hunting, defense, herding, trailing, war, and many other endeavours. They also love their humans, and in a normal order of things are corresponded, each knowing it's place. Dogs don't have any Stockholm-syndrome, and who ever thought that up is an ignorant idiot, full of gas. Dogs and men are simbyotic, and have been for aeons, in all cultures. Only recently has the travesty dog-races trend started, a…

Just aproach her casually, compliment her on something not her natural beauty, but rather something she has control over, like her clothing style, or "the way her eyes smile" (personal favorite here. Often works wonders) , and offer to meet for coffee.

That is a very important part of this whole thing. If you "try to do it properly" it won't work. You need to do it thoughtlessly. Just go have fun. The rest follows. If it doesn't you still danced your brains out, which is a hell of a lot more fun than propping the bar or staying morosely home.

No. I'm not. I don't condone violence in any form. I'm trying to see what could make a father reach that extreme, and how the situation could be corrected, without creating more pain. But hey, why try to look int othe origin of it all when you can try to jail someone and break a lifelong relationship for an act which was probably one of desperation and inability to cope. What many in this discussion fail to see is tha for many a father of older generations, when a son comes out, it brings a sens…

fathers who think the best solution to their woes is to beat the shit out of their own children. I'm afraid I haven't managed to convey my point. I'm under no circumstances advocating violence. I'm trying to understand what can make a father, who in the vast majority of cases adore their children, burst out in a fit of violence. I think it may be frustration and despair, and a sense of his own failure, or rather perception thereof.

OK. Let's ask OP: OP, is your father an abuser, or is this totally out of character? Because if this is a recurring thing, do go to the police, but if this is a unique occurrence, I think you may want to analyze it a bit.

Stop jerking off, stop watching porn. Actually, this will do it for the majority of men. There are are some that have abnormally low sex drives, but for the vast majority, not stroking the stick and watching real women outside will do the trick. The other points a fine also, but less important.

IMHO this worked because you acted feminine. I guess your counseling training helped you get into "defuse" mode. Women are hardwired to manouver, and men to confront and escalate. My guess is that they didn't know how to handle this in a man.

My ex (18 years together) was officially very much of this opinion, but guess what? Come divorce time, she punched my chest, pushed and shoved me around a few times, while I did nothing, because I'm a big guy, and would have done damage. I have not hit a woman once since puberty. She turned rabid feminist. She also tried to get 80% of my income and assets. Anecdotal, and my own experience. YMMV.

I'm guessing it's kind of like religion. I'm sure there are some people who convert/get circumcised as adults, but the vast majority get it forcibly done to them, without consent, and without possible reparation during their childhood. FTFY. BTW, female genital mutilation is a crime punishable by jail in most of the developed world, but male genital mutilation is still pushed by many... Hmmm.

I hate to tell you this, but it seems that the data applies to populations in developing countries or areas, where sanitary measures may be below par; Perhaps the most powerful evidence in favour of circumcision comes from randomized controlled trials in South Africa, Kenya and Uganda. Yeah. many of us are lacking in that dept. Some of us learn, with time to let some gas out to prevent popping the cork, and also to say soothing sounds when a woman complains. I don't think anyone here argues against the message. The question is wether doing it in an apparently assertive and agressive way, considering that that is one of the traits we are being accused of, is productive. We may be right, but if generally most women, and many a misguided nice guy, helped by the few true violent assholes out there, label the vast majority of normal guys as "potential" agressors, "near" rapists, "potential" child molesters, women "enslavers", if we react in a thoroughly …

One of the things that if I had learnt a few years earlier would have spared me much grief, is that men complain where there is a perceived problem, generally as a vocalization of an analysis (not necessarily correct), prelude to action to tackle the problem, and try to find a solution. Women (generally speaking, of course, but amazingly often) couldn't care less about the solution, they want to complain, search comfort, or validation. This often leads women to act as a group with little critica…

Feminism is NOT all about that. It's about getting extra rights, about being able to indict men simply by speaking, no proof needed, it's about power.

My point here is that we risk creating a backlash. I think it's possible to raise awareness, and taking the Ghandi route, pull the rug from under them. It's not easy, and counterintuitive for men. We have the tendency to meet challenges and fight the fuck out. I like to say that we are more agressive, but women are more abrasive. They are better than us in long term, slow pounding. When we stand up and are assertive about rights, we are called extremists, by some some extremists hidden under a "…

Cops and military are just some of the most obvious "dual standard" items. In most of the developed world there are positive discrimination and quotas in many walks of life.
