Yeah, I think one thing we need to look at is why two men each spent 6 weeks in jail while the police only wasted 100 hours ... even if it was only one cop, at 40 hours a week, they should have been released after 2.5 weeks, right? EDIT: I'm aware of the difference b/t cops and prosecutors. My point is that if someone is sitting in jail, that 100 wasted hours should have been the priority, not stretched out over six weeks. So, I'm curious ... I'm pretty sure that there is precedent for this, in cases where a transexual deceived a partner about their biological status. In those cases it wasn't seen as rape, and particularly in cases where the deceived party beat the deceiver, they were charged with assault. So why is this considered sexual assault? So, since both parts of the sentence are illegal, is he just free to go? Or does the judge get another crack at him after he gets smacked down? It seems like he should be able to take the position that he complied with all the legally binding parts of the sentence.

I believe it's France, of all places, that doesn't name the accused, not just for sexual assault cases, but all defendants. I'm not sure if it's literally a secret or if it's just a media blackout, but I think they also ban 'perp walks' as inherently prejudicial. I have no idea if they also anonymize sexual assault accusers.
