Misandrists are often in relationships with men just like misogynists are often in relationships with women. They just view their partner as the exception because their partners tend to comply with their expectations and standards and beliefs, as absurd as they may be. Especially if you say the perpetrator was a woman(/women). Feminists are advocating to end crimes like domestic violence against women, which is great and absolutely important, but men are so far behind they are advocating for the recognition that they can be victims of crime too, something this post clearly mocks the very idea of.

I feel like I wrote this except the bit about working in a law firm for 5 years (I just spent the last year studying family law at university though). I also realized if I marry I'm not commiting to someone, I'm committing to the future version of them who I know nothing about. If I date someone, I date because I see a future with them. The future doesn't involve marriage.

I was pretty much talking about all cases of abuse. I think believing someone means believing where they're pointing you towards and then doing the best you can to help them. If you can't come up with enough evidence to convict someone then that just completely sucks I guess and it's awful but it definitely doesn't mean you convict someone without evidence. I think you do have a very good point. I do believe that women at the top of the social ladder in history were also responsible for the "patriarchy" and it wasn't so much gender based violence as it was class based while both men and women were oppressed in different ways. Honestly, I think I see your point about how "men rule so they are responsible for everything bad" groups all men and that's wrong. I agree with you. Thanks for changing my mind.

I agree. As a male victim of abuse (from both my parents) that's why I used to agree with the statement before it started getting gendered. I think there's a lot of double standards with male victims of abuse from anyone. And a lot of it does stem from feminism in my view. I think you put it really well. I think I feel the same way about "Believe victims". I don't think it necessarily was ever meant to say "straight to jail because of accusations". I think it was meant to be more about "Don't immediately laugh at or distrust someone talking about being abused so that they are able to come out with their full version of events so that there's space to conduct a fair investigation".
