This is an unbiblical notion. We're reminded several times in Scripture of the importance of taking care of our bodies, controlling our emotions and lusts (sex, gluttony and greed), and of correcting other believers and helping them to grow. OP is absolutely correct in trying to help his believing sister.

Of course the headship of Adam was before the fall as well. Paul refers to it iexplicitly in 1 Corinthians 11 and God punished Adam because he hearkened to the voice of his wife (not leading or correcting her when he was with her at the tree)

Again, you're not reading verses in context. 2 Thessalonians is speaking of thise who reject God's truth so He gives them over to be deceived (cf. Romans 1). In 1 Kings, God planned Ahab's destruction and a spirit brought it about by making Ahab's prophets yes men who convinced him to go fight.

That's straight up retarded. You need to learn to read Scripture in context. Not one of those verses is saying what you claim it does. Remember that all Scripture is the inspired word of God, Who cannot lie, so God's Word will never contradict itself. That's one of the first things you should check when claiming a verse supports some position.

Nothing in CM is ever backed by Scripture and they don't care. His response to someone on divorce quoted "various Christian traditions" and not Scripture. I thought I could steer some people toward researching the Word themselves, but I've found it's casting pearls before swine and my energy is better directed elsewhere.

I try to shut this down gently when I can. "Of course, I'm just telling you so you can pray for them..." No, it's gossip; no need to add all the details. A simple "Hey, please lift up Brother John in your prayers; he's going through some trials" is as much detail needed unless they share with you themselves.

Right. I believe part of the confusion also lies in many translations making verse 21 its own sentence and grouping it with verses 22 on, while the King James and the translation you quoted rightly show is as a completion of the thought in verse 18.

You're right that Ephesians 5:21 is often interpreted in the wrong context when grouped with the marriage passage afterwards, in that the wife submits to/obeys the husband, not the husband also obeying the wife's wishes. Yes, you're exactly right, which is also why these passages on marriage are often coupled with instructions regarding master/slave relationships. The hallmark of a Christian is love, whether you are the superior or subordinate in the relationship. Masters, fathers and husbands should not abuse their authority to satisfy the flesh and servants, wives and children should obey cheerfully and not being slack or maliciously compliant because they are unhappy about their position.

They are commanded to obedience (hupotassō includes obedience to lawful authority). They are to submit to their husbands in every thing (Eph. 5:24) as unto Christ. Is the Church to submit to Christ but not necessarily obey? Of course not. Wives are to obey and submit to even unsaved husbands that their reverence be a witness to him (1 Peter 3:1) and possibly save him (1 Cor. 7:12-16).

Sure there are. Jesus introduces fasting with the grammatical implication that people will and are fasting (because it was established in the OT), commands how NOT to do it and follows with the instruction of how to do it correctly. Literally the previous paragraph, Jesus talks about prayer, commands how NOT to do it and follows with instructions on how to pray. It's now called the Lord's Prayer.

Right, I haven't outright banned anything except things with witchcraft. I often find there are good lessons to contrast Christian ideals with secular entertainment. That's the first series I thought of. I read those and enjoyed them, too, as did my sisters. Some stories even had the daughter as the main character. Thank you.
