Yes and yes. Even the emotionally stunted ones get lonely and come back. Just have your guard up. xo

Is it a customer or colleague? Speaking from experience, men hitting on women in the work place are not likely to be HVM. Between myself, my close friends, and my older sister, we have all been approached at work and none of the situations ended well. Maybe I'm projecting, but it never hurts to be cautious.

It's always funny when they complain about our abundance of matches compared to theirs when they are the ones who make that the reality. Their thirsty asses swipe right on everything. Therefore we get matches!!

Damn....he absolutely had a lot of internalized racism/hatred that he projected onto you. Can definitely relate to the "hate fucking" too. They get off on shit like that. It's a fucked up power trip for pathetic LVM like them. I'm so glad you dodged that bullet though and walked away a free woman!

Yea this one is funny. I get it a lot from guys of all backgrounds (I'm middle eastern). One of my exes was a military guy and he used to call me sand princess or ISIS depending on his mood (yea not great...longggggg before my FDS days). He ended up marrying a white girl much more akin to him

I just feel a need to express how grateful I am for the amazing women in my life. I'm feeling low today for reasons I'm not proud of, but I have them to always uplift me and for that I'm so lucky

So true lol my best friend got me into FDS....I won't go into specifics for privacy purposes but philanthropy wise she is SO accomplished, smart with her money/investments, absolutely hilarious, beautiful, I could literally go on for days

Very little. TBH my dad is hella supportive of my independence anyway and while he doesn't verbally express it, I know he thinks a man would "dim my shine" haha. So as far as dating goes, it doesn't concern him if it doesn't concern me. My mom is proud of my independence too however she is quick to latch onto the idea of me dating someone if I ever mention a particular guy (but she comes from a culture where women marry very young, so it's not entirely surprising).

I'm about halfway through, but it seems to focus on the three overarching types: secure, anxious, and avoidant. I believe ambivalent is under the "anxious" umbrella so you'd probably get some solid insight!

Thank you! Yes seeking someone out with a secure attachment style seems to be a big part of the recipe for success. I'm glad to know you found happiness. :)

I’ve been reading the book “Attached” and most my tendencies with (romantic) relationships align with the avoidant attachment type...anyone else also an Avoidant? If so, how do you go about dating/have you found happy relationships?

Yes against better judgment I checked out the cesspool that is dating_advice the other day. I couldn't resist commenting in a tireless daily thread declaring that women stating they want guys above 6' is abhorrent (omggg height is out of a guy's control!). Guess what? My age, my ethnicity, MY height (yes men have height preferences too) etc are also out of my control but I don't get butt hurt about every single guy who has preferences. Someone intelligently responded to my comment pointing out t…

Thanks for this. It reminds me of someone I dated a few months ago who said he wouldn’t be ready to commit to anyone for at least a decade (he’s almost 30) and suggested in passing that I could always wait for him because he thought I was a cool person. Like....come on. What a gut punch to be treated like that

You made the decision to leave. The hardest part is over, and you've proven to yourself that you are strong enough to keep powering through this healing process. Have you gone no contact? It will really expedite the healing process if you haven't. Best of luck <3

I mentioned over the phone in passing the other day that social distancing/staying home has had me feeling lonely. Ever since, my dad has been calling every day to make sure I'm feeling ok (we live about 1000 miles apart). It makes me happy. He is very mentally tough while simultaneously emotionally available, and sets an example for me in many ways with that mindset. He a good man, and sometimes I think the endless string of LVM I've encountered is the world's way of balancing out the luck of h…

Not OP but I recently went on three dates with a guy who seemed cool and pretty interested in me. After that, he said something offensive in passing that I called him out on. Coincidentally the nice date suggestions stopped and instead he tried to booty call me after a night out with his boys and strippers. It was quite the 180 after merely pointing out something rude that he said. Needless to say he is done with!

The same exact thing happened to me with an ex. I was astounded that he reacted to me the way he did. I was even more astounded discovering posts like this and realizing it is a common accusation amongst the "logical" sex.

Sending you love. You absolutely deserve to be selective. It takes a long time to undo all the things we internalize as fact but it is still possible. FDS is here to help you with that <3

Needed to hear this today! This seemingly decent guy showed his true LVM colors today to me for the first and last time. No time for that

Don’t beat yourself up too much, we as women are conditioned to always be polite. I would respond to his email and let him know you didn’t want to make a scene in front of others, but that his actions were highly inappropriate and you are not the least bit interested.

Two guys recently asked me to dinner. One from work, one from OLD. I said yes to both, as they were attractive and easy to talk to. This is my first time dating more than one at a time and the first time actively implementing FDS from the very start. Went on the dates, both were happy to pay, and interestingly enough both admitted they felt nervous around me (just funny cause they are stereotypical "alpha" types). A couple things were at play here, I believe. My confidence level, and the fact th…

I’ve been training jiu jitsu (the art portrayed in this video) for over three years and they are breaking down a very specific technique so people can see it in bite size pieces and go from there. You have to drill something enough times to be able to achieve some sort of muscle memory. We spar at the end of every class. We spar hard. None of it is simulation. This is merely one technique to eventually be able to add to an arsenal should you ever have a confrontation. Please don’t speak negative…

Yep. I know a dude who got married last year, separated this year (while his wife was 9 months pregnant), leap frogged to this one chick, broke up with her, then started dating another. The entire time he was trying to get with me. While I feel like it is not news, he really opened up my eyes to just how single they will act. LVM are horrendous.

A guy I had been seeing for a couple months told me over the weekend he isn't in a place where he can prioritize a relationship, his sole focus is himself, he believes forming attachments to others is a weakness, blah blah blah. Typical emotionally unavailable man (who had no issue leading me on and acting like we were together to the point where his friends were even including me in things and asking me about us. But I digress). Old me would have tried to rationalize this mindset, keep an "open…

Been conflicted about something for the past few days. I was hanging out with a guy I’ve been seeing for ~2 months and saw the tinder icon on his phone (we met in person). In the moment it hurt because I’m not using OLD, but I haven’t brought up to him that I noticed. Not sure how to carry on, or if it’s a sign we are looking for different things.

My sister recently started dating a cop. It’s nothing too serious yet but is there anything you’d suggest for her to look out for early on? Our dad is also a retired officer and very much a HVM. But of course that’s not a representation of all cops.
