And if there weren't any girls in my social circles I would expand those circles and get involved in things where I was meeting new people (OF BOTH GENDERS). If so, then who? I agree with you on the stats with higher education, indeed women are pursuing it in higher numbers and it's really exciting! Those women just now going to school are fortunate to not have been part of the previous generation who were more reticent to pursue upper education and are now having career troubles because of it. 1	Sorry guys, but the patriarchy is alive and well.... Even if it did have to do with her gender, this type of thing is more of a "leveling the playing field" tactic. It's based on the assumption that women because of very many different factors are simply put, less likely to pursue a career in the sciences. By instituting things like this they hope to even the numbers out.
