Both have their pros and cons. A good book may improve your vocabulary, but a good puzzle game could improve your problem-solving skills like no book ever could. I'm mostly just trying to defend video games from the people who say to cut them out of your life completely. Everything should be used in moderation.

Reading is really no different than video games. Video games are another medium for telling a story. People unfairly shit on video games here just because of the social stigma associated with them. Everything is fine in moderation. Someone who plays video games for 12 hours a day would be just as worse off as someone who reads books for 12 hours a day.
