I'm in the same boat. I read "How to Win Friends" a long time ago then found TRP about a year and change back. You have to realize that the book is a cultural artifact. It was published before WW2. It was published just 15 years after Ulysses, and 5 years after Brave New World. If you were in the target demographic when 'How to Win Friends' was published: There was a good chance your grandpa remembered the civil war You may have been one of the roughly 3 in 10 American households that didn't own…

After I got through reading your post I said aloud to myself 'Are you a girl?' Sure enough after scrolling up to look at your nick... The thing that made me realize was the beginning of the last paragraph. In no way do most men do 'okay' with women, nor are they happy with the dating pool. What kind of men do you hang out with? Only someone with a girl's perspective could possibly believe something like this.
