I personally don't have any problems with overcoming past issues or gaining perspective in my day to day life. Absolutely no reason to take any 'consciousness altering drug', but to each his own.

Gotcha. Yes, a couple weeks of training in regards to the industry and the software. After about 6 months, I knew all the capabilities of our platform and what was coming in the future. Of course, I went above and beyond - in regards to learning the industry and our tools. I wanted to be an expert. This has led me to being the top rep for a billion dollar private startup. Now, I can work just about anywhere (SalesForce, Oracle, IBM, etc).

I mean, I have fairly advanced sales skills and techniques. Aside from that, the younger generation (I assume you're near my age?) is able to understand software very quickly and easily. I sell a cloud-based financial reporting software, specifically for SEC Filing, Complex Business Reporting and SOX Compliance. *I knew absolutely nothing about this industry prior to joining.

I would honestly try to parlay your sales experience into a career in software/technology sales. I did this and at 27, and two years in making a little over six figures. Get ~a year experience at a software company and then try to find a promising startup. They generally pay more and give stock options! Most private startups don't require a degree, as well.
