I saw this at my son's gymnastics studio. My wife said it's because the "not women only" bathroom has a baby changing station. Which is still bullshit.

It's like that old joke about the guy who becomes an ob/gyn and then tells his wife "I can't even look at it for less than $500." There must be some level of desensitization.

I'm sorry you had to have any dealing with that neanderthal. He probably just wants a female doctor so he can watch and pretend they're lesbians.

The fact that her husband was stabbed was briefly mentioned in a throwaway sentence in a throwaway paragraph. But the reader is beaten about the head and neck with the belief that "she cared too much."

No, that i understand. I'm just curious as to what world the attorney lives in where instances of this in heterosexual couples get reduced sentences.

Hunt's attorney said in similar cases, involving a heterosexual relationship, the charges are often dropped down to a misdemeanor, and that's what she wants for her client. Wait...what?

That's effing hilarious. But if I told a fit woman that "Any woman who looks like that must be a porn star," I'd probably be facing 25 to life.

as you found in your relationship, it's normal for a relationship to break down if the man stops giving his partner access to his money. Are you high? I never said anything of the sort. I said that i don't have "his money." You keep using this word "normal" but who is to define what "normal" is. I'm gonna walk away now, because i can't tell if you're trolling or just insane.

I don't know if you're trying to scare me but, i know the scenario because we've lived it. However, you're getting off the topic. Man pays woman for sex = woman is a whore.
/r/MensRights30/03/13 01:21 PM

Are you suggesting that only the man makes any money in a relationship? My wife and i both work, i make more money than she does, but our money is OUR money. If the money runs out, we go down together. I don't pay her for sex.
/r/MensRights30/03/13 01:00 PM

Do you honestly, in your heart of hearts, believe that if she chose to withhold sex that these "sugar daddies" (we called them "customers" or "johns" in my day) would just continue shelling out money indefinitely? You really think that these men give these women "allowances" because they enjoy listening to them talk?
/r/MensRights30/03/13 12:54 PM

it's not generally held What does that even mean? I'm only 35 years old but, as far back as I can remember if you have a woman money because she had sex with you, that woman was a prostitute. Maybe kids nowadays have a different definition of prostitute.

It's as simple as this: By her own admission, she was blackout drunk, and not in control of her faculties. Bad judgment on her part? Yes. Did he take advantage of that fact? According to her, yes. Unfortunately, a woman can't go to the police and say "He took advantage of me being drunk." She can, however, go to the police and say "he raped me." Now, it comes down to a case of "He says, she says." She tells the judge "He raped me." He tells the judge "No I didn't. I took advantage of her." The j…

This, verily. A little information about me: You see, I have this condition. I watch/listen to commercials. I often get "reprimanded" by my wife, with her asking me if "this commercial [is] really important." As such, I'm confronted with sexist/misandrist ads quite often. It's disheartening when I present these ads to r/MR only to be told that "this isn't important" or "we have more important things to worry about." I don't know what a "rape culture" is. I don't know why circumcision is bad. But…
/r/MensRights04/11/11 10:26 AM
2

If one could reason that the only thing stopping some potential rapists from committing the crime is the threat of punishment, then couldn't one also reason that the same threat would stop a false accuser? Rape is a crime, sadly falsely accusing someone of rape isn't (the crime becomes defamation, obstruction, etc.). It goes without saying that this is unfair.
/r/MensRights28/10/11 01:07 PM

The point is: this woman's behaviour is socially acceptable and even sanctioned by many facets of our society, particularly by women. Isn't that what we're working to change? Isn't bringing it to people's attention a step towards getting it to change?
/r/MensRights23/10/11 08:29 PM
22

It's your own fault. You can't possibly be the victim, because you're a man. The woman was obviously just acting that way because she was assaulted when she was younger. If you're gonna try and blame her for what you think she did to you, then you're blaming the victim and you should be ashamed.

I would certainly consider an adult using a minor over whom she has authority for her own sexual gratification to be using that minor "improperly", yeah. But what if it's for the sexual gratification of the minor as well? If a teacher goes up to a student and says "Wanna have sex?" and the student says "Yes," is it still abuse?
/r/MensRights15/10/11 12:50 PM

...that older women cannot coerce sex, or that teenage boys are flattered and empowered by an older woman's sexual mentorship. This is a phenomenon that I've always found interesting. It seems to me, and I'm terribly under-researched in this statement, that most of the high-profile cases of female-on-male sexual abuse, especially when dealing with a teacher-student relationship, are a fairly attractive older female "abusing" a student. I put abusing in quotes because of my personal definition of…

I agree as well, and I think it should be re-edited back to what it was. But I fear this will start a "he said, she said" battle on Wikipedia when our efforts could be better spent elsewhere. The way I see it, if gay men agree with the fact that there is bias against men, or if they feel they've been discriminated against because they're men, then there's no reason why they shouldn't be participating in discussions about the MRM. That said, the LGBT community is becoming stronger everyday. It's garnering support from people of all orientations. Meh, it's Wikipedia. If you're turning to Wikipedia for answers about the MRM, then I don't think you're serious about the MRM. If they wanna consider this a "victory," I say let them have it. It's actually sadder than it is anything else. Instead of trying to have an open, adult conversation about things, they feel the need to resort to the internet equivalent of writing "eschermond has a stinky butt" on the 3rd grade bathroom wall. IMHO, the reason the majority of DV cases are the result of initiation of violence by the woman is that women are still living under the premise of "He won't hit me back because I'm a girl." In an unrelated note, are there any attorneys here who could give me some insight into a man's ability to bring witnesses, character or otherwise, to attest to the fact that he could not possibly be abusive toward his children? To clarify: Let's say my wife falsely accuses me of child abuse, as a means of re…

The length of the sentence is completely irrelevant. This is hardly the forum to discuss the laws regarding sexual contact with a minor. Moreover, not being an attorney, judge, what have you, I'm ill-equipped to discuss what should be an appropriate sentence for someone convicted of said crime. What we can discuss is the discrepancies in sentencing for men vs. women. Should it be 15 days? Yes. Should it be 30 years? Yes. But it should be both REGARDLESS of gender.

Can't agree more. The only way there will ever be equality between the sexes is if both sexes act accordingly. You said yourself that if you were a woman, it would be rape. But only if the woman reported it, remember that.

I have no problem with products/services marketing to women. If that's the demographic that their research teams have found is the most lucrative, then so be it. But when, in an advertisement, a man recoils like a scolded puppy when his wife asks him what he's doing, that's when I take issue. That's when I say what I'm always fond of saying in these situations: Flip it. there are a lot of confusing and misguided ideas about masculinity out there This has always been one of my biggest issues and reasons for joining the MRM. I would rather say male or female. Fairly simple. I guess the question right now is, how does the TG community view itself? I would think that a man who has gone through the lengthy and arduous process of gender-reassignment does so in order to be considered a man. I don't know too many transgendered people, but the one I do know would probably upset if I greeted him with "What's up, my transgendered man?"
/r/MensRights04/10/11 10:52 PM

My 2 cents: I think that this movement and this subreddit in particular should be less concerned about from whom we're "earning scorn" and more concerned with brining Men's Rights issues to the forefront. Maybe something like "Working to end needless victimization of men since 2008" or "Working to end the humiliation of men since 2008." Maybe it's just me but, I didn't +frontpage this subreddit because I hate or want to fight/"earn scorn" from feminists. I joined because I'm sick of the way men …

There shouldn't even be a "non-trans." I don't feel the need to go up to someone I'm meeting for the first time and say "Hi, I'm Erik. I'm not transgendered." Just like my TG cousin doesn't go up to people and say "Hi, I'm Derp, I used to be a woman."
/r/MensRights04/10/11 04:13 PM
1

This sounds to me like the transgendered community became tired of the negative connotation associated with the term "transgender" and decided to try and turn the stigma onto the "normal" people. And by "normal" I mean people who identify with the gender they were born with. Before you go into the whole "What is normal?" and "I was born trapped in a man's body," let me break it down for you. My cousin is a transsexual, FtM. And I will never identify him as anything other than a man. So don't go …
/r/MensRights04/10/11 04:08 PM

I'm not saying it's torture. I'm saying why should we be forced to redefine ourselves just because you (or the TG community) has an inherent fear of the word "normal?"
/r/MensRights04/10/11 03:59 PM
5

Yes yes, I know what it means, and I also understand the recent stigma that's been attached to the word "normal." I just find it disheartening when I have to differentiate myself to people when there's nothing (traditionally) different about me. Hence my "Press 1 for English in England analogy."
/r/MensRights04/10/11 03:23 PM

Oh, I get it. It's a made up word. I have no problems with the LGBT community. But someone having to call themselves "cisgendered" is like going to England and having to press 1 for English.

Be that as it may, (I apologize for not researching) men "cry victim" a lot less often in these cases than women do. I'm not saying it makes it ok for an older woman to "take advantage" of a younger man, I'm simply saying that less men seem to feel "taken advantage of" in these situations.

Listen, I'm on your side here. Granted, the number of Male rapes Female cases of statutory rape are most likely higher than the reverse, that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. The sad fact is men mature sexually earlier than women. So, if a 30 year old female teacher sleeps with a 14 year old Male student, the student is just gonna run to his friends and say "Yeah, I hit that." You're referring to this one instance. I'm referring to the years of victimization and humiliation that I've witnessed long before considering myself an MRA.

Not even in the slightest. In fact, if you were to actually read my response, you would not find that sentiment in there anywhere. I, for one, am not anti-feminist. If women want to fight to empower themselves, give it hell, ladies. However, the first letter in "LGBT" does stand for "lesbian," so I don't think that's something that could really be tackled by a community called "mensrights." I am, in no way, shape or form, anything close to being anti-homosexual. I feel that they are human beings…

r/MensRights will always be undermined, unfortunately. As long as there are people populating r/againstmensrights (which bothers me to no end. I'd love to see how they would react if we were as immature as they were and started an r/againstwomensrights) they will always find a way to storm the gates and attempt to destroy anything we try to bring to the forefront. The answer? IMHO, it's to keep pushing forward what we believe. Having open dialogues with people not familiar with the movement, in …

False. Not if the wound was inflicted post-mortem. Post-mortem wounds don't bleed. ;-)

What makes you think she's not. I have video evidence of her appearance and actions. What do you have?

Oh, I'm sorry. I just assumed from your asinine commentary that you were either a woman or a eunuch. Incidentally, finding out you're a man now says volumes about your username.

Wait, this has to be a troll. Did you honestly just say that she probably didn't mean to hurt him? You can't seriously believe that. How about this, lets take your ovaries, hang them on the outside of your body, and let me go all David Beckham on them, then we can talk about "didn't mean to hurt." Putting all that aside, you're playing he said/she said. You're choosing to believe her side of the story about the alleged "assaults." So, I'm a fucking dancing elephant, your argument is invalid.

I love how you say "She kicked him," as if she ran up, gave him a tap on his shin, giggled, and ran away. Yet, as soon as the MAN commits an act of violence, all of a sudden it magically becomes "assault." I know you can't understand, since you've never experienced it, but testicular trauma is extremely painful, as illustrated by the fact that the guy was laid out for ten minutes. Add to that the fact that it can cause testicular rupture, torsion, or any number of other medical issues and, as fa…

That's fine. One guy stepping between them, maybe grabbing the guy by the shoulders and shaking the rage out of him, I could understand. But to have every male staffer on the show bum rush the poor bastard, and some of them (apparently) beating and throwing him around smacks of "look at me! I'm your hero! Sleep with me!" to me.

"She [Miss Stewart] seriously assaulted me. I'm confused as to why I'm sitting here and not her," he said. Truer words have never been spoken.

This is the first time I'm seen this and I'm livid! Mostly at the fact that EVERY douchebag penis-apologist who works on that show and thinks they have a chance at sleeping with that cock-teasing bitch runs up to "defend her honor." Dude's absolutely right, "How can she slap" him and not expect to get slapped back.

I'm an adoptee who recently became a father. My wife and I decided we wanted to try and find out information about my biological parents, just to see what kind of medical conditions we could expect. The papers given to me by my parents were (apparently) filled out by my biological mother. The information for the "Mother" side and the "Father" side was written in the same handwriting. The "Mother" side being fairly detailed and the "Father" side being fairly vague. All of which leads me to believ…

I've spent a good portion of the morning trying to come up with the flipside. All I've got is this: "But I removed gears 1, 3 and 5 From that pretty little coupe she loved to drive. Carved up her black Coach bag with the pleats. I threw her Louis Vuitton into the fire Yadda yadda somthing-ire Maybe next time she'll think..." Any help?

So, and let me say I'm sorry, I only have a high school education... It still reads to me that any discriminatory effect [against men] is justifiable.

The team also argues that “any discriminatory effect [against men] was plainly justifiable" So, it's very clearly says that it justifies discriminating against men. Am I reading that right?

As long as the so-called "Right" keeps allowing absolute lunatics, I mean complete loonies like Michelle Bachmann the ability to run for office, I'll be convinced that it's an entire party of escaped mental patients.

This. Who was the last feminist you know that was "pro-man." The problem here is, they probably mean "pro-man" as in mankind.

This. How exactly is this magical number of $14,000 reached? Do they calculate how much the woman would have to pay a male prostitute in order to "have her needs met?"

I have nothing to offer. All I can say is I'm really sorry this happened to you and I hope it all works out in the end. It's stories like this that make me want to be more proactive in the MR movement.

My wife is also guilty of this. People may say things like "oh, it doesn't hurt. Look at her compared to you." But the truth is sometimes it does hurt. And I'm not talking about the namby-pamby "it hurts my feelings" sort of way. I have addressed it with her many times. And it happens so infrequently that I can't recall what her reaction to it was the last time it happened. But I shouldn probably start being more proactive towards getting her to stop.

This. They call them "Ladies Nights." The women don't complain because they get free drinks and the men don't complain because it attracts more women to the bars they frequent. It's atrocious and I don't drink in any such establishments.

I've never been in a situation like this. However, I seem to recall seeing this portrayed in various television shows/advertisements. Young men, not even necessarily attractive young men, ending up in a slow dance situation with an elderly woman. In most of these portrayals, the older woman is often shown grabbing/squeezing the buttocks of the younger man. Now, I obviously understand that TV isn't always reality. But there must be some basis in reality in enough instances for people to think tha…
