As a happily married man, I cannot disagree with you more.

It's hideous advice. I like MR, but this subreddit has devolved into a sad joke.

If your statistics are true, then marriage is not pointless for that 1/4.

No one wants to voluntarily put themselves in a position where they are in danger. There is no denying the fact that hosting a strange male may put you in a bad situation compared to hosting a female. Maybe a CCW class and a handgun would put you more at ease? Of course, make sure you are sufficiently trained and comfortable handling it first.

MR is a great place to research gender inequality and vent about divorce proceedings and whatnot, but it is a terrible place to look for the total marriage picture. Let me first assure you: not all women are gold-digging banshee bitches. It is possible to have a meaningful marriage without fear of getting pwned. You just have to make sure 110% that the woman you want to marry is truly the right one. Don't marry fo…

Wow, sometimes I am glad I am not rich. Holy crap. Though I do empathize, I had a situation a bit similar. My mom married my dad for a green card, then he found out she was batshit. She tried to kill me twice as a baby. When she got partial custody, my dad was worried what she would do without supervision, so he left a good job and some investments behind and went on the lam with me and my sister. We pretty much lived as nomads until he was able to get a decent lawyer to fight the kidnapping cha…

There is no such things as "traditional women" anymore. All the women in the West are the same, brainweshed by the same TV shows, commercials and magazines. Bzzzt, wrong answer.
