This also means the average size a woman encounters will likely be bigger than the actual average among a large randomized group, because there is already pre selection bias at play. You also need fewer kcals when you’re smaller to survive. That could be part of it too I suppose, if you are tall yet otherwise healthy it signals an abundance of kcals and therefore resources, or even some sort of resiliency since you didn’t succumb to health maladies associated with unusual height? I think modern day heights are actually a product of fisherian runaway, much the same as penile size.
