"Safe space" is usually applicable for those with trauma, and post-traumatic stress. Someone who has a panic attack every time they experience certain triggers (physical touch, loud voices, rape "jokes", etc) will often be advised to seek out a "safe space" where those around them (physically or otherwise) are aware of these issues and will take proper precautions. For example, a classic safe space would be a group therapy program. There's a center in my area for male victims of abuse, and they …

Ok, never mind. I can see that you're just an asshole.

I'm just responding to the fact that you said there's no way a photo could hurt somebody. Ridiculous.

Ok, would you care to pull a sexy pose in a mankini while sucking a banana and then post it to /r/GW so I can show it to your mom?

There are PLENTY of women here We're not talking about the people allowed to frequent an internet forum NEVER allow a woman or a 'feminist' to mod ...we're talking about this statement you made, right here. Honestly, you seem like such an idiot I don't really want to continue this. We're never going to get anywhere.

So including women in a gender equality forum is "dilution" :( It's going to be hard to garner support if you're this much of an asshole.

"So what" what? You said: "Uh huh. Which sexist hatred would you be referring to?" so I answered your question.

NEVER allow a woman or a 'feminist' to mod... Not the person you're replying to, but since you asked, I thought I'd point out that you didn't simply specify feminist, you specified women in general. If that's not sexist, I don't know what is.

Well then that feminist organization is shitty, and not following the tenants of feminism. It's like saying that Bush represents conservatives, or that Obama represents liberals. The label someone uses isn't an end-all to demonize the group they're fronting as.

Oh I don't doubt that Greer's book is fucking creepy, but that has nothing to do with feminism as a school of thought. Some people are scum bags, some people aren't. Feminism at its core (gender equality) is a good idea that you agree with.

Everything you described as problematic is a result of our society, not of feminism. Rape hotlines only helping women is a result of gender roles, for christssake. It's implying that men don't get raped, or don't need help. Because our gender roles are such that the men are the strong, sexual, muscle men, and women are the pathetic, weak victims of rape. Again, this is not true as men can be raped (and women can rape!). The problem here is that you are observing a real problem, but instead of se…

You know, you and feminism are on the same side on this issue. Oppressive gender roles have established that men are the sexual aggressors, and women are the victims. As you know, this is not always the case. But due to gender roles (lol not feminism) this is an unspoken cultural norm, which is why men who help lost children are seen as pedos, and women get lighter sentencing for violent crimes...etc.

Someone who has grown up never getting compliments or special treatment will respond to an insult for what it is...an insult. But a girl who's a knock-out, who's obviously grown up pampered and spoiled, isn't used to being shot down.

Wow. Way to totally insult and beat down alternate sexualities other than your own, small group of straight, vanilla women. "It's not a joke to pee into a woman's mouth," Just because you don't like it, or I don't like it, doesn't mean it's wrong, or that the urinal somehow advocates for non-consensual water sports. Ridiculous.

Wow. Way to not subtly use a murder case as an excuse to build a complete DNA database of british men. Fuck England.

I personally think that a male version of the vagina monologues would no doubt be a good thing. Stereotypes about gender and sexuality hurt both sexes, and it would be awesome for men to be able to have a liberating theatrical production of their own. I've seen a few, but none have ever been as popular and wide-spread as the vagina monologues. Back in high school, our women's rights club put on a production of the monologues, and I think it would have benefited from a male counterpart. Or, bette…

I just want to put it out there that this isn't a trait of women, this is a trait of an abusive partner :( If anyone is going through this, you don't need to put up with it. This is not a normal, balanced relationship. Don't stick around for someone who treats you like shit.

Eh, I'm not that type of masculine. Sports bore me. Unfortunately, I'm just as bad at meeting people and socializing as the dudes on reddit, so I'm not really the one to ask about meeting girls :(

As a girl who's always been tom-boyish on the inside and likes to date more gender-neutral guys, there's no reason you can't be yourself and still find a female partner. My current boyfriend is relatively gender neutral like myself, but he's more masculine than some of my past boyfriends and I still continue to be the big spoon ;) What I absolutely hate about the whole gender-vs-sexual-orientation thing is that so many men who are "metrosexual"/"effeminate"/etc (I personally say that liking cute…

I can see how those who've never experienced this will call bullshit. Hell, I would call bullshit too if I hadn't once dated a guy who fit this exact description. It's really weird stuff.

Not the girl you're replying to, but I'm also a female reader of seddit. Not a PUA by any means, nor would I want to be. I read seddit because the psychology of pick-up-artistry is really damn cool!

Came here to post this. As a female, I will proudly say that I absolutely despise the entire jewelry industry (especially the diamond industry, for obvious reasons). Not only is it evil, and a huge rip-off, but it enforces horrible gender roles for both men and women in one fell swoop.

Wow, I took alcohol edu and my school's version didn't have any of that. I see where they are coming from; the reason this issue is so difficult is that in some cases, rape actually is occurring. And I also understand the reasoning behind the part about how to respond to a friend who might have been raped: it can be incredibly damaging to doubt a potential victim to his/her face. However, urging them to go to the police right away isn't usually the right way to deal with it. Unfortunately, it's …

Was going to come here to post this. It's an absolute shame, but it's very important to teach this law to college kids. I'm a girl, so I'm definitely lucky to not have to worry about this in the same way; I can't imagine how horrible it would be to be a guy facing this sort of situation. I've heard so many horror stories about bringing home a girl after a night out, both parties drunk, and then the girl charges the guy with rape because she feels regret for sleeping with someone just because she…

I'm female, and I almost never contribute to the discussions here, but I thought I'd post as a /MR reader. Do you hate women? Of course not. I am a woman. I do, however, think that our culture is so fully immersed in gendering our children that many women grow up imitating others, learning how to act "feminine" and basically participating in a really awkward social system. Many things women do revolve around the idea that they have to retain their identity of female. For example, when women are …

I see your point, but I've also seen plenty of "the perfect woman: only the good parts" fleshlight-esq sex toys, etc. This sort of thing is done on both sides. Sex toy advertising isn't usually made up of accepted-as-normal world views.

Not exactly the reason why I found it amusing. More like, even the homeless can't escape the perils of relationship stress.

I live in a town with 5 colleges (+ 2 community colleges) in the area, so there are lots of homeless looking to mooch from the students. I've talked to plenty of them, and there are lots of women. The difference I've observed (and been told) is that the homeless men tend to be in the "once was a normal guy but lost his job" situation, whereas the women are all either mentally unstable or homeless by choice. And, not once did I meet a woman with a child who was homeless. The sheltering services a…

This goes for chicks too. We just get clingy (as you know) and don't want to lose the guy, so we torture ourselves by seeing the fries on the table but still being unable to eat them.

This is probably the most clearly articulated, efficiently condensed, and effective argument against circumcision I've yet to read. Thank you. I'm going to save this now...

I'm assuming you're circumcised, or else you probably wouldn't feel this way. I hate to start out a post by saying I'm a woman, but I do feel like that might make a difference here, at least on the female side of the argument. I've been with circumcised and uncircumcised men, and I'll say that, sexually, there's absolutely no difference. If anything, circumcised penises are more difficult because hand jobs require lubrication. The only girls I've talked to who think uncut looks "weird" are girls…

As a woman, I found this article fascinating, and 100% true. I always knew that approach anxiety exists (as women have it too), but I didn't think about it this way. I'm definitely one of those girls that rarely gets approached, but when I do (usually by old men/hobos/etc, and sometimes attractive men, but only, it seems, when I'm not single) it makes me incredibly happy and I tell all my friends about it. This goes for my girl friends too; even the unbelievably hot ones rarely get approached, s…

Not usually; that's not how the immune system works. You might be thinking of the "positive" in blood types, which can lead to complications with attacking the fetus, but that's a whole 'nother barrel of fish.

I agree with you x100, and I'm a woman. I notice that my boyfriends and guy friends tend to get sick more often than me or my girl friends, but it's no doubt that us women make a big fuckin deal about it, whereas men rarely even mention it unless asked.
/r/MensRights25/03/10 08:55 PM

I agree that they really should have written the article better. I think some editors must be women. Though I will admit I think there might be something to this. I used to get sick all the time as a child, though now that I'm older, I've gotten sick maybe once all year. All the boyfriends I've had get sick about 10x as often as I do. What I notice is that they tend to go to school/work anyway, and not complain (unless it's something serious), whereas I'll mope around all day with the flu.

I didn't add it because sexism is always against women, I meant that because western culture tends to think of it that way, so I'm just in the habit of specifying.

I am a woman and this is terribly offensive even to me. This is the epitome of sexism, even if it is against men. Women like this are why feminism is regarded as an evil thing. Feminism has turned into propping up women and shitting on men, when really it was supposed to be the equalizing of the sexes... This makes me think that within the next 20 years, men will be given prescriptions to control their sex drive (a la "the giver").
