Man, same thing happen to my friends, she met with their wives and told them I was abusive and crazy. I have cut off family myself as I’ve figured out selfish takers were a big part of my life growing up, giving me simp people pleasing co dependency issues. I don’t think there is much you can do. The best thing is to take the high road and maybe that family will come back into your life. Trying to fight liars is a fool’s errand. In the voice of the late great Patrice O’Neal, “it should be call b…

Haha this is EXACTLY what I did u/richardcleveland. Built my own gym. Dont talk to much anybody besides work people and parents of kids friends. Went from 250 to 200 and my chest sticks out over my now flat stomach. I could have a lot of different women. But I don’t want them. I went on a couple of fuckboi binges on the apps. But I’ll wait a couple of years, focus on work/kids and get better. That will make me even more attractive to a good woman. The downside u/apprehensive-cost496 is that my e…

Instead of walking through my own post, perhaps start by answering the title of the post and the first sentence?

Being divorced has made me a better man and father. There were some very dark times but once you break through the social norms and the codependency issues that come with being a married man, you can thrive better than you could have in a bad marriage. Women typically do better in the short term, men in the long term. It’s a long game, remember that. Put in the work and get a little better everyday.

u/SixColors - this is sound advise. PLEASE COMPREHEND IT. In my opinion and based on my life experience, the female version of you rarely takes the path you are taking with atonement for transgressions. The system is not set up for right/wrong. That why they got rid of at fault divorces in most states. This divorce could be all of your fault, but you could be taking a deal a drug addicted domestic abuser would get. The system is set up for the worst case, lowest common denominator. Don't go in w…

As someone in tech, I hated OFW and made sure we didn’t have to use it. The organization and threading of messages was so bad. I know the courts require it sometimes but it is just another part of the divorce industry to hate. Just the “schedule send” part of gmail makes a world of difference.

OP - its a long game. Tell yourself that every day. Chop wood, put in the time, be consistant. This is where fathers far succeed mothers if they do it right. All of the support in the studies for 50/50 was around this very fact. Show emotions but be in control of them. A fathers job is to prepare the children for the real world, which is full of people like your ex. Show them how to handle it.

Not just her, but her girlfriends. I have some really good platonic women friends who are real with me and they tell me about the man bashing and horrible, one sided advice. Its not just married men but also (if) you get back into dating your are dating all of your dates friends. The entitled and independent modern women comes from the collective. You will get through this. I'm probably at a similar income as you but with a worse financial outcome due to my exs crafty legal positioning and inher…

60/40 (it will probably get to 50/50 ) gets me actually more of what I want - long extended times with the kids away from my ex. 2-2-5 and even EOW 50/50 is too confusing for the kids given our different lifestyle choices and parenting styles (the reason for our divorce). 60/40 EOW with week on/off during the weeks gives the most opportunity to get the children for 11 or even 14 days, especially when the ex now had to travel to work and we don't have a make up day policy. We both get them for lo…

Yep, we have to let the arbitrator rule. She was our mediator that we both agreed to allow her to arbitrate the remaining issues.

They award to to the parent who has primary physical custody - my stbx. She has them 60, I have them 40. I just checked the IRS website and it seems like this might be a national standard for federal taxes.

Solid advice and what I needed to hear honestly. Doing all of the calculations gave me some anxiety ... but I need to buckle down, button up and live in the present focused on them. Time, energy, and focus matter more than all of the stupid shit that my ex will spoil them with.

most subreddits involving the interaction and relationship between men and women (r/divorce, r/OnlineDating, r/relationship_advice, r/datingoverforty etc are very focused on women. That is where many of the women on reddit seem to hang out as well as many "progressive" men. Proceed with caution in places like r/FemaleDatingStrategy/ r/TwoXChromosomes/ just like men should do the same with r/MensRights/ and r/redpillfatherhood. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/65/Cognitive_bias_co…
