I'll make the argument that it had nothing to do with her being a woman, but everything to do with garbage writing. No one hated River Song. We loved her! There was a time and a place for a female Doctor, and the writers decided that the time and the place for a female Doctor was also the time and place to make the show into an obvious political trope instead of the interesting, border-pushing and mind-expanding scifi show it had been. They felt the need to insert Donald Trump into one of the ep…

That's a really common misconception but you are incorrect. In the sport of rowing, the seats in the shell are on a slide about three or four feet long. Although your butt is planted on the seat, the seat moves along the slide with each stroke. It looks like it's an upper body movement, but the actual pectoral and triceps engagement is minimal: Rowing is almost an entirely leg-driven movement and you increase that leverage by having better flexibility at the fold and at the catch (start).

Nah, 100% this comes down to technique and flexibility. If they did a few days of dynamic stretching they'd likely be able to beat her. When it comes to rowing, your flexibility is immensely important, especially at the set-up, and that's where women will typically excel over men: They have a lot more natural flexibility which allows them to generate decent power despite their smaller size.

Women typically have better hip hinge mobility so if the guys stretched for 10 extra minutes a day they could beat her within the week, easily. That timing is seriously the difference between burping while erging and getting your breath timing messed up for a few strokes.

Yeah, age is showing me that this is increasingly a rigged game where nothing I do will have any effect to change it. Not just talking about women; the whole system in general. Was a marketing and econ major and have worked in a decent spread of industries and basically all of reality is made up. They have concentrates that make beer, rum, whisky, etc. out of water that is indistinguishable from the "real" stuff; restaurant food is majority pre-frozen heat-and-eat; we use debt to burden our chil…

Hmm, your notice may have been a different one... Mine was default opt-in; I didn't do a thing. Got the whole one-month subscription back: $32. Of course it's not worth as much as it was ~5 years ago, but I'll take it.

Funny story about the manipulation and being sold a corporate lie: I just got a settlement check from Bumble because of a class action that was brought because Bumble was lying about matches in order to get more men to buy the premium package. A female CEO directing her company to profit from decieving and manipulating men; who's surprised. That was most certainly the beginning of the end for me in terms of American dating.

Oh, also, someone responded to my question in a different thread: You should do this within a Roth brokerage account and then it's tax exempt. I have a separate Roth account with TD and you can day trade there. Totally forgot this was an option!

The short term capital gains gets taxed as ordinary income as far as I've understood. So yeah, I don't normally end up in that bracket but it's not just your stock sales, that threshold includes your day job pay check as well. So not unrealistic to get into that bracket or the one just below it, which is 27% iirc.

The big thing keeping me from day trading is the taxation value. Losing 33% to the government seems like me just working for them (versus staying long on stocks). I have quite a few that I picked up at the onset of the pandemic that I'd like to now get rid of, but that "government's fee" is making me want to just wait until March to sell. How do you rationalize the taxation rate for day trading? Do you just consider it a cost of doing business/ the price of admission to play?

You have an inability to read body language. I'm not agreeing with the general premise of the post, but the women in each of those photos (particularly the top two) are definitely demonstrating defensive posturing. Either it's betraying their true feelings or they had shitty, bargain photographers that don't know how to pose their subjects.

I like your breakdown, but I'd add that answer "D" is inherently incorrect because of verb tense. You cannot prevent something by being on the lookout for it, because to spot it, by nature of the action, would require that it already be taking place. I would lawyer these assholes to death over this, demanding to know how they expect me to follow through and then would probably promptly be let go for wrongthink.

“There are now many more choices of things to do in the late evening than there once were and fewer opportunities to initiate sexual activity if both partners are engrossed in social media, electronic gaming, or binge watching,” Jean Twenge, from the department of psychology in San Diego State University said in an editorial accompanying the report. Yeah, no. "There are now many more chances of having your life ruined just by attempting to initiate sexual activity, since one partner is engrossed…

You're sort-of asking two different questions, although one leads the other. Are you looking for motivation to train because your present way of training isn't fun, or because you don't like to work out at all? If the former, I have a few different "mix-up" routines I can provide but it would also be helpful to know how you presently train. If the latter, I could go into a whole depth of detail about different motivational techniques. I'll probably update with both for the lurkers in the morning…

I definitely use it more, but I have a wide breadth of, and choosy, vocabulary. For me it isn't trendy, I just appreciate that it fits somewhere between "plebian" and "amateurish" and seems to frequently apply to many situations lately.

I'm always working to be a better driver. Take a look at this and tell me if you think I was in the wrong. My understanding of the traffic flow is in green. I'm the one making the ROR. What the other driver did is in red.

Thanks for the heads up, but this intersection was designed specifically for what I was doing: It wasn't an illegal turn. The right lane merges left in about 200 feet from the intersection. She was crossing from left lane to right lane through an intersection to ride for ~300 feet in the right lane before merging left again. Both the green arrow and the through-traffic are to keep left, my lane turns right and then merges left.

Story time: Did this to my car once because a woman nearly ran me off the road. I made a legal right on red into the right-most lane while she decided to merge from left to right lane through the intersection. She cried her way out of the ticket meanwhile I couldn't get the insurance for it because technically I did it to myself by swervibg to avoid being hit.

It's not the same exact straight line. The area of the triangle will be less than the area of the rectangle, so the line will be higher than in A. But it will still be a line that is parallel to the line in A.

The two things, socialism and MGTOW are generally incompatible because proper socialism is based on doing things "for the greater good of society" whereas a MGTOW is based on prioritizing personal benefit over society's. There may be times when the two overlap, but they're generally incompatible. Also, getting shit on for being a socialist doesn't mean you have to support Trump. Being a Trumper is a personality cult and has nothing to do with economic or political ideology. In theory one could b…

I didn't mind the female doctor. It was the near-constant, unsubtle, and plot-irrelevant social commentary that made me give up on the series, after having enjoyed it very much since it's initial return years ago

Regardless of the etymology, I never understood why calling someone a "pussy" was frowned upon but women freely toss around the phrase "don't be a dick". Isn't that equality: Both genitalia being used as a negative slang?

You misunderstood the lawyer. Right to work means that the union can't require your father to join. But as such he isn't afforded their protections either. If he broke the law, the law being that a bus driver can't touch a student, whether the state is RTW or not has no legal bearing. However if your father HAD joined the Union, they probably would have found a legal defense for him because of the protections Union members have.

So... did anyone consider reporting this to her local health district? They're usually super strict about the sale of potential hazardous materials. Wonder if that was an approved food-safe container, as well as the packaging... And the IRS? That $10k better get declared as outside "hobby income".
