I think this is spot on--he probably doesn't feel the gravity of the problem yet and feels like he's doing what he's "supposed to" be doing at the expense of both of them. I went through a similar phase with my current girlfriend many years ago. She got in shape, we had sex less, we didn't connect as much, all leading to constant fights and screaming matches. We were able to bounce back really well, so I guess there's still hope for Chawlston.

Sad to say but your boyfriend has resigned himself to beta mode. You didn't describe his before traits or really emphasize a 180 degree turn, but it sounds like you talked him out of maintaining the bonds with male friends, you're the bread winner of the relationship, and your SMV is potentially higher than his. All of this seems like it buried him instead of influenced him to try harder, so he's clinging to the one thing in his life (to him) that makes him feel good about himself: you. He's onl…

Are you familiar with the term "corporate boyfriend"? http://www.staresattheworld.com/2013/06/the-corporate-boyfriend-a-testimony/

Help him get laid. The release chemicals will do the rest.

It's like taking the goddess away from the goddess worshiper. I fucking love this simile. It could be worse--you could've been addicted to heroin. Don't fret, the initial feeling of "misogyny" will pass as your eyes adjust to the light.

I did not know that this was a thing! It's refreshing (and harmonious) to see that it exists.

Oh for certain, those other guys she's involved with are having a jolly good time.

It's crazy, the moment you stop doing that and sincerely stop giving a fuck, women will flock. Never in a million years would I have thought that the movie Swingers had the most profound message to teach young men about getting laid: Jon Favreau finally stops giving a fuck about his ex and that's when she calls him back.

Yeah, if the guy doesn't realize that her persistence on the matter greatly implies that she's already been unfaithful, he needs to bury the rest of himself in that sand he has his head in. Maybe if there was a cuckold-oriented dating site, women like her could gravitate toward that instead of polluting the dating pool for everyone else.

Lol wow let's break this down because that's always so much fun: 1) Do you agree that getting in to a relationship does not by definition restrict you from being attracted to other people. Translation: SELF CONTROL IS OVERRATED. So every time anyone in a relationship finds him or herself to be attracted to another person, they should be able to fuck with no consequences. Let's ignore the fact that community/society/family is built on these close, exclusive pair bonds. 2) Do you agree that any fr…

Man, reading that makes me glad that in the nadir of my beta-phase, all of my relationships were relatively short. I never made it long enough in those to get to the really shitty behaviors like "carrying her shit" or "she doesn't watch movies with nudity in them with you". I've definitely made a lot of mistakes in those early relationships but the memory that gives me the biggest douche chills is when I had this girl over my parents house, we're watching a movie, she's inexperienced (as was I, …

This comment in response- Clearly, you enjoy pain and drama. So that means the answer is, "yes", as this can only result in additional pain and drama in your life. If you find the significant other and tell her, she'll hate you for being either the "other woman" or "the messenger" and he'll hate you for destroying his life. That's a double-win for you. -reminded me of a TRP for women...

If he's paying for 90% of it, she should be doing 90% of the planning. When the sex dried up, the guy should've immediately put his foot down and confronted her about that and any other bullshit coming his way. Losing a deposit and a ring and whatever else is nothing compared to the lifelong money- and soul-sucking he could be in store for. Plus what a shame, the guy's feeling guilty about resenting the idea of marriage. He damn well should, it's hardly an attractive life decision for a man. He'…

The best chaser for TRP is the memory of falling for a woman's (or women's) shit.

I have a sister that's 8 years younger than me, so I didn't get the benefit of learning anything while we were growing up. But now I get to watch her run rampant on her beta boyfriend, so there's that.

It's funny, I used to get bothered that she was the type who constantly asks "what do you want to do" and "what should we eat next week" and "is it okay if I do this". I've since realized that it's a good thing because she's open to direction and taking my lead instead of having an idea in her head and steamrolling over everyone in her path to get it done.

Example of reminding them that they're responsible for their actions: I was at the grocery store with my girlfriend picking up some things. She drops the bag with the eggs in it while we're leaving. No big deal, it's only a little more than a dollar. She asks for the receipt. I say what do you need the receipt for, ask her if she has cash on her. She says she does, then asks for the receipt again. She says she's going to take them back and exchange them. I look at her with a mild WTF glance and …

That's the only one I can really think of, especially given my nonchalance in the earlier years. With this one all I had to do was confront her with it and walk her through why it's inappropriate. She put a stop to it the next day.

If she lied to him, he's been had. If he knew it going in, he's a sucker. Either way that is probably one unhappy guy.

She's pretty naive as far as the types of pick up games guys play. Some older guy at her work, close to her dad's age (which she claimed as a major reason for this not being an issue), was getting close and started calling her after work hours to talk about work and work gossip (and, IMO, "put in his time"), then started texting in the evening, sometimes on consecutive days. Since there was some work-related content thrown in there, she lumped in the non-work stuff with it and saw no issue with …

Textbook blame game. She's the dumpee yet can't recognize why in the world someone would have done that to her, so she's gotta throw the blame your way. And of course, the easiest thing to grasp onto would be you refusing to put her on the pedestal that NO WOMAN deserves to be placed on. She'll get bored with this new guy if he's not doing what you did.

I've found that building myself individually, whether it's working out, learning a language, or building some skill that may work as an alternate career path, really works to dispel that feeling. Demonstrate your value to women to get laid/start relationships, but demonstrate your value to yourself to feel confident that if they go sour, you'll bounce back just fine.

Agree with enticingasthatmaybe, you did what you needed to do. She obviously wants someone that will acquiesce to demands. If you want a woman that won't drag you through the mud, you must stand resolute. The ones that put up with it, more often than not, are the ones who are with you because you do it for them. But obviously don't just assume that's the case. Be constantly wary.

Oh man, you are describing what sounds a lot like my current 10-year relationship. Plus I know that fear you have and have tried (so far successfully) to keep it in check. The first few years for us was the standard she's-way-more-into-me-than-vice-versa relationship and I feel the same that it sort of led to an inadvertent red pill situation for me--not falling for shit tests, being a smartass, not reciprocating the "I love you"s nearly as much as her. At the 5 year point, I started making more…

Agreed, SMV is about demonstrating value, however you choose to do it. I wouldn't think age, in and of itself, is a dominant factor behind it (see: 19 year old guys getting laid at every turn, 70 year old billionaires dating 20-something models).

It's all about physical power, in my opinion. Picture a scrawny dude, not too swelled in the arms, and two guys jump him. If it's a fight to the death, that scrawny guy has to get dirty: go for the eyes, grab weapons--whatever it takes. Now picture women as that scrawny guy: thousands of years as the physically weaker half of mankind, centuries afterward as the weaker political entity (on a large scale; in the home I'm sure they wielded their power). They've adapted to fight dirty because they'v…

So glad that this is at the top for all to easily find. From OP: "I want passion and romance and lust and true love!" The one person speaking some sense points out that this is all part of her fantasy and the first thing she can reply with is "Interesting". God forbid she puts a modicum of work into it on her end. She's going to make some cuckold a very happy beta.

Probably an element of him being the bad boy then, these girls are too young to process much more than wanting the dick. He sounds like he's pretty nonchalant about them, too, so they might be thinking "this guy has nothing and I'm still shit in his book, what's wrong with me?" Women always make it about themselves, ALWAYS. He's definitely stirring some emotions in these girls that are leading them to mount up. Take comfort that this shit won't last forever.

The stream of oxytocin (or even a similar chemical reaction in the brain that mimics this) can be sustained, but it takes a lot of work and the two people have to be in the right mental places. I'm in a 10-year, healthy relationship (that has not been without its bumps in the road) because she and I both work to meet each others' needs and understand our own bullshit. But I wouldn't call it "unconditional"...both of us certainly have our conditions that each has to meet in some capacity.

What is the SMV of these women? Where would you place them on a physical rating scale? I'm with AlwaysLate, on the surface this sounds like typical clean-up crew behavior, the women likely treat him as a project. I work with a woman in her mid-30s who is aware of her own "fixer" mentality. She's got a great personality, but she's been with a long line of losers who she's tried to make better men.
