While I don’t agree with OPs solution, this take is even more problematic. Reduce romantic partnerships to friendships? Come on. You can take on much more serious obligations without owning or being owned; a job contract, a mortgage, a kid. In fact, the whole point of having a partnership is shouldering the burden for some of those life projects together. Unless you take mortgages with your bros, the analogy doesn’t apply. This isn’t to say partnership shouldn’t have a strong friendship componen…

It is absolutely insane to not admit that women are PHYSICALLY weaker than men, and this vulnerability to 50% of the population creates stress, a constant nervous fear, and MENTAL weakness among many, many women. Now tell me, why men have suicide rates 5x to 10x of women then? You are confusing expression of emotions with mental weakness. Women are relatively more free of stigmatization for their expression of the broad spectrum of emotions human beings normally experience. Men, on the other han…

"You cannot fix a broken woman" does not mean they are beyond salvation, it means you probably don't have the skills to fix it. We are talking about personality disorders, PTSD and so forth, things that even takes years for professionals to attempt to fix. So I agree with your "don't try this at home". However I think it is apt that the OP points out the dynamics of "beta traits" being visibly attractive to people with a history of receiving abuse, including traits of the desire to rescue and fi…

Get over it. Sounds awful lot like "man up". He's precisely asking advice on how to get over it, and you're only issuing a moral imperative to "just do it", that helps nothing really other than possibly alienating him for not being able to do that.

If you're asking this question, obviously you don't find it in you to forgive, and let me preface it all with saying that I don't think children have any moral obligation to forgive their parents for their mistakes. I think the ideal point to be is where forgiving them would become almost irrelevant, reached with a sense of empowerment and agency you would have with (not despite) your current reality. E.g. there are many different reasons to 'barely feeling it', including psychological, and I th…

when you work like a dog and get shit on for it. Feeling unappreciated at this scale sucks big time. Before considering drastic options, but also completely burning out, do you think you could find a good therapist and get some support that way and see if that changes dynamics at home? You could go incognito with it and choose not to tell your wife too. If things are already beyond the point of redemption, there are few factors to consider for divorce; if your wife has personality problems, your…

If your strategy against loneliness is committing to a monogamous relationship, you will have a bad time. This has several reasons; A partner cannot fulfill all of your relational needs, no matter how "perfect" they may be. In fact no single person can do that for you. Aiming for it will only bring you resentment as people will inevitably fail such a lofty expectation. A healthier alternative would be distributing that need among many people; and in turn making a conscious effort to build an inn…

The physical structure of the brain is far from being the only determinant of its functioning; we can't isolate it from other elements of neurotransmission. For example hormones; it is only one part of this very complex system but already good enough to make a case of sexual dimorphism. I can suggest this well written article by a well known exec, who happens to be female, who have undergone hormone therapy due to pituitary problems and giving us a perspective on the profound changes in her thin…

I think both of them relate to power relations, that a man should establish hierarchy, whether with a man or a woman.

I'm not from US and I come from a 3rd world country; I used to share the same reactions with your wife in terms of not feeling safe at the street. In addition to shitty past experiences, I'm also prone to feeling anxious and scared more than other people. (I'm also a men.) As much as I agree feminist propaganda might have had a part in her biases, the truth is if she's feeling insecure, there are things you can do as her partner. And this transcends your and her sex (in fact, if it didn't, it wo…

This is not a gotcha. This is to reveal the causality between her son's suicide and her "values". Granted, we don't know the precise details, but it seems very likely that she has at least some portion of responsibility in her son's death And in grander scheme of things it is to question how we as a society push men to suicide 5x then women, and if it is related to these " values" that trivialize men death.

Divorced men vs women; http://jech.bmj.com/content/57/12/993.full, this cites factors from 800% to 1000% This one is probably paywalled for you; http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/10502556.2013.773802# I encourage you to google "man suicide divorce rates" and carry on your own research too. For non-divorce suicide rates; this wiki page will give you a good listing of direct resources and you can verify my claim at a glance; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gender_differences_in_suicide And …

Not surprisingly suicide rates go as high as 400% for post divorce men, while it has no effect on women. (And that is in addition to global suicide rates for men to women is 5:1)

Your argument is non sequitur and it's obvious that you already believe whoever criticizes feminism as it is today is a male supremacist or a women hater, but still I will try to explain. Simultaneous support for women's causes (or lack thereof) has no bearing on my point; it is about not pretending that men's rights movement includes women's rights too (so they don't need their own movement) or being free from the bigotry of framing a sex-agnostic problem as male victimhood (e.g. unlike rape in…

Well I was wrong to mislead you actually, citation isn't needed. There is no citation you can give that could prove the claim "Feminists support the abolishment of the draft almost entirely.". You can't make such a sweeping claim over a group of people, it is very easy to falsify. "Islam is a religion of peace and most muslims want to live in peace almost entirely" could have been true as well, but it doesn't remove the practical implications of terrorism. Also let's deconstruct the notion of "s…

Then it will be one less thing in which men is harmed more than women, and we will lose a chance to expose the bigotry where the feminist use of the word "equality" only means equality or superiority on things that only benefit women... If we abolish draft, the 90% workplace death being men will be next, the 85% custody being given to women will be next, %80 of suicides over world being men will be next etc... We might as well make the point with the first one and attract attention to men's issu…

Yeah, getting drafted is not exactly perceived as a right. That's the whole idea; to expose the bigotry of "equality".
/r/MensRights19/10/14 04:23 AM
2

Yeah "technically". The whole motivation is to prove that feminism is not "equality between men and women". I mean, I don't think people who named the move lacked a dictionary, they could have called it "egalitarianism". It started as for fighting against inequality towards women, then turned into power grab against men and now "equality being feminism" rhetoric is equivalent to "islam being a religion of peace".

I can't speak others intentions but having a male homeless depicted as such is not that inaccurate; 67.5% of the single homeless people are males, probably because they are less likely to seek treatment for mental illnesses, they are more likely to be war veterans and women are more likely to trade sex for survival; in this case shelter (and this is not to demean women in any way, it's a simple statement that women sexuality has more value than men's). Second interpretation of this post could be…

For what you have in demagogy you lack in reason. You have a "property" because law defined the concept of private property to begin with. You have "law" because people wanted to externalize and substantiate the notion of "justice", and tried to have it enforced as objectively as possible. That's why you cannot seek your own justice, you'll need to outsource it to the institutions we have built. And by we I don't mean you I and your grandfather; it have been inherited and you were born to it yes…

One is law, social contract, you agreed to stay in this country so you tacitly agreed it to. Other is whimsical, subjective, distorted opinions of little shit people. You choose to which you subject yourself, but don't ask this man, or anyone else, to kneel to such idiocy. Because you're the one empowering them by doing so.

So you suggest going out of your way, your fucking freedom, because you're surrounded by bigoted dimwits that would impose their shallow line of thinking at every opportunity? This man deserves a medal for going through this emotional battle, to teach those ignorant idiots to suspend their prejudices. Appearances matter just because we make them matter; there is no objective link between tattoos or facial hair to one's criminal disposition. So if we are making that link in our minds, it is our c…

Sure, I don't disagree. At the same time it is not only how women perceive men but also how men perceive themselves is what is important. We sure impose ourselves a great deal and that should be an equally important, if not more, part of the wake up.
/r/MensRights20/09/14 01:37 PM

I see your point but it is not necessarily a zero sum game. Men could certainly fight against at least some of the imposed roles, and those do not necessarily come from women. For example all the movies around a hypermasculine men doing heroics, men going to war for glory, men womanizing like there is no tomorrow... We certainly love to watch those but at the same time that's how we trap ourselves into those external definitions of our male identity. It is us perpetuating this and we can't expec…

Don't forget though it was with first waves of feminism women broke out of the strictness of gender roles. Men yet to see that for their own roles. If anything it is getting worse, we are trying to compensate by trying to be hypermasculine (compare beards, muscles in media to 30 years ago) instead of fighting against. Pushing this to right direction is on men.

I agree with you and I think you're being criticized a bit too harshly (though you could have articulated this in the topmost comment). Same goes with for example Islamic fundamentalism versus 'other' muslims. Latter is the breeding ground for the former, and it takes finesse to deliver criticism for the former because of this. Fundamentalists don't label themselves as such after all, they piggyback on popularity and justifiability of the moderates.

I see your point. I believe the conflict is inherent when rights are sought in exclusion of the other gender. However there is no easy way to put it when there is already an imbalance. MRA's point is there are areas where men are deprived of equal rights because of their gender, and it is as valid as areas where women are deprived (or had been deprived) of equal rights. Question is, who will defend whose rights, and how it will be prioritized? It is really right to expect some action from femini…

I'll be nice and tell you some what might not have been received well. First, there are quality issues with your argumentation; What are you talking about? No true feminist would ever be okay with this Scotsman fallacy ... a vast number go ... ... a disgusting number of ... ... tiny in comparison ... Loaded language Secondly, ratio of false accusations have been discussed here, the fact that the research is highly inconsistent is an indicator of problem itself, and precisely why it actually requ…

It is almost hard to believe that almost everything turned against you. It must be real hard, but hang in there. It's very normal that you're angry with the other person, but in fact you protective instinct of your woman is preventing feeling angry at herself. She abuses the biases embedded in current civil law and its execution, and that is pure evil of her. Badmouthing her to your kids won't be good for kids though. Well at this point there are many things that aren't very good for the kids bu…
