N-Count MegathreadDo you know of any studies on homogamy in premarital sexual partner count? I don't think NSFG has data on number of premarital sexual partners for men, but I could be wrong. Intuitively it seems like this kind of thing seems to be "taboo" in dating conversations between liberal people so I would expect a lot of people to not know how many their partner has had, thus lowering the correlation. On the other hand conservative Christians would probably want someone who is like themselves. That would … | /r/PurplePillDebate | 11/01/21 12:59 AM
If a man describes himself as either "logic-driven" or "emotional", then women won't date himWow! Thank you for this post! It makes perfect sense to me. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 03/01/21 10:46 PM
If a man describes himself as either "logic-driven" or "emotional", then women won't date himPreviously, if someone asked me to choose either one or the other to describe myself, I would pick "logic-driven". It means to me that I make decisions based on logic and principles (justice, fairness etc), and I'm not swayed by appeals to emotion. But I now appreciate that there can be many different interpretations of the phrase, which I was not aware of before, so I can see now why it might be a bad idea. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 03/01/21 10:31 PM
If a man describes himself as either "logic-driven" or "emotional", then women won't date himI agree that the descriptions are vague and unspecific but can you explain what you mean by socially underdeveloped? I imagine that when someone describes themselves as "logic-driven" they're just trying to say that they're less impulsive than the average person. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 03/01/21 10:28 PM
If a man describes himself as either "logic-driven" or "emotional", then women won't date himBut the way they described it, both kinds of guys are assholes that nobody would ever want to date: the "logic-driven" guy has no regard for other people's feelings (so of course nobody would want to date him) and the "emotional" guy has anger problems (obviously nobody wants to date him either). | /r/PurplePillDebate | 03/01/21 10:19 PM
Could nonresponse bias account for the correlation between premarital sex and divorce?Do you not suppose that people inclined to remain virgins until they meet a marriageable partner are simply of the same disposition that disinclines them to divorce? I do think it's likely that a significant part of the correlation between premarital sex and divorce is explained by the person's "disposition" as you put it. This is also the position taken by Kahn as well as the authors of the NHSLS analysis that I was quoting. After accounting for attitudes, they found the correlation between pre… | /r/PurplePillDebate | 21/12/20 05:12 PM
Could nonresponse bias account for the correlation between premarital sex and divorce? The finding is as puzzling and contradictory as it appears. Even the study's authors found it puzzling: The differences by education levels are puzzling: for the male respondents, separation is more likely in cases where the man has a higher education level than his wife, but, for the female respondents, separation is more likely where the woman has a higher education level than her husband. I chalked this up to nonresponse bias (it seems plausible to me that the less educated, divorced people a… | /r/PurplePillDebate | 21/12/20 01:59 PM
Could nonresponse bias account for the correlation between premarital sex and divorce?According to the everyday sociology blog: The NHSLS used face-to-face interviews and focus groups. The NSFG used in-person interviews using “Audio Computer Assisted Self-Interviewing” technology. The NSSHB used “Research Panels accessed through Knowledge Networks” via the internet, although they did provide hardware and internet access when necessary. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 21/12/20 01:41 PM
Non Hispanic Asian males less likely than non Hispanic whites to be sexually experienced by 18 years oldAn odds ratio of 0.43-0.88 is a huge difference, how is it a low effect size? Study after study have replicated the finding that age at first sexual experience is significant higher for Asian males than White males (on the order of 1-2 years). This is not controversial. | /r/BlackPillScience | 20/12/20 10:19 PM
Could nonresponse bias account for the correlation between premarital sex and divorce? This is very interesting. Could you please elaborate? | /r/PurplePillDebate | 20/12/20 09:54 PM
