The two aren't analogous. Other than being of the left. TBH the Liberal Democrats might be more of an equivalent. Labour have traditionally been the working man's party. They grew out of the unions. Very male-dominated. Labour had to become New Labour and radically alter its values and associations to win elections. It became a pro-immigration party, for example.
