My sweet winter child, China has gone on a mass censorship of VPNs now if it was laughable why censor them? Speaking of this, Substratum, a decentralized web platform has just gone live which has allowed people in China to access the uncensored internet for the first time. Once again this proves governments are powerless to stop decentralized platforms. You are either terribly misinformed or know nothing about distributed ledger technology.

Lol do you have any idea how easy it is to use a VPN? In any case we're getting way off subject here...they can't even shut down Pirate Bay so there's no reason to believe they'll have a chance of shutting down decentralized social media.

How do you know Pirate Bay did that? Were you there? Do you have any evidence to back your claims? Last I checked it's innocent til proven guilty so the burden of proof is on you buddy.

I'm not here to shill cryptocurrencies. In all my videos I always say it's not financial advice and do your own research before investing. Most of those 2000 altcoins will fail so as an investment it's absolutely risky. I'm more focusing on the decentralized nature and what it could mean for the future of social media. You don't even have to buy any crypto to participate.

They actually physically raided the pirate bay several times. Pirate Bay just went off to another location and set up shop again. In any case, the point remains it's imposible to shut down decentralized services. And even if by miracle you could convince 100+ countries to coordinate and ban all the nodes at once, all you have to do is use the open source code to launch a new one. It would be the biggest waste of resources for all the world superpowers.

You do realize that it's spread across many different countries? You know how many different foreign ISPs would have to coordinate to accomplish that? The darkweb simply used Bitcoins as a currency but it's server itself wasn't decentralized. Two complete different things. Case in point, Everipedia, which is a decentralized wikipedia built on EOS, is available to users in Turkey and Iran, whose governments banned wikipedia. They are helpless to stop Everipedia and EOS because it's decentralized.…

Do you understand how decentralized technologies work? If not then educate yourself about Bitcoin and blockchain technology. I understand the cynicism especially in this day and age, but if you understood the technology you'd realize it's impossible to pull the plug. There are thousands of different nodes across the whole world that run the network. You could pull the plug on one or even a few.
